After more than 30 incredible years, we’ve made the very difficult decision to close Philglas & Swiggot on 16th March 2025.

From our first shop on Northcote Road in 1991 to our Marylebone location and beyond, it has been an absolute joy to serve London’s wine lovers—whether in-store, online, or through our private client and En Primeur services.

Sadly, increasingly challenging trading conditions and the additional complexities of Brexit have made it impossible for us to continue.

❤️ A HUGE heartfelt thank you to our amazing team for their dedication, and to you—our loyal customers—for your support, laughter, and shared love of great wine over the years. It has truly been an unforgettable journey.

Philglas & Swiggot was founded in 1991 on Northcote Road in Battersea by Mike and Karen Rogers and subsequently expanded to add further stores and became one of London's most loved independent wine merchants. With an exceptional range and notable strength in Italy, France, South Africa, Australia and California the company now supplies a wide range of private, corporate and wholesale customers and operates two stores & a newly launched Enoteca in Marylebone. In November 2018, O’Briens Wine purchased the business to begin a new chapter in its history. Founded as a family business in the 1940s and specialising in wine, beer and spirits since 1973, O’Briens has grown to 34 stores across the Republic of Ireland as well as 2 stores now in London (Battersea and Marylebone). With ambitious plans and a highly experienced management and buying team in place including two Masters of Wine to oversee the wine range, Philglas & Swiggot continue to operate at the forefront of the UK Fine Wine market, offering expert advice and exceptional levels of service.
