The first West Down Scarecrow Festival ended today, 5 July, at the Crown Inn. A total of 25 scarecrows were entered, an amazing number. So a big thank you to all who entered. This number made possible a scarecrow trail around the village which was done by over 50 people who explored parts of the village that they may have never been to. This was an excellent showcase for the Village.
The video below is of the prize giving. The results were: in 4th place was the WI entry Loralie, in 3rd place was Jeremy & Julia's entry with Sunset, and in 2nd place was Pearl Dean's entry with Beaky McFeather. The overall winner, which received a lot of support in the trail vote, was St Calixtus Church with the marvellous Noah's Ark.
Thank you all of you who entered into the spirt of the Festival which raised over Β£150 for the West Down Community Shop. The theme next year will be Farming. Watch out for adverts for next year's Festival in May. See you then.
