We're taking you to South Africa with this week's tasting. We are pouring two benchmark SA wine producers.

First up we have Spier's '21 Gables' Chenin— this high end expression showcases how rich and opulent Chenin from SA can be! If you've only ever had entry level SA wines, you won't want to miss tasting this elegant white.

Next up is the Daylea Red or "Daily Red". Grangehurst is a higher end producer known for their special occasion wines. This red blend is meant to be for every day drinking. It is still full bodied and flavourful but it's at a more approachable price point.

Brand new wines from Cote du Rhone, France! Rocca Maura is a wine growers cooperative that has a long history in the town of Roquemaure (near Lirac).

If you have not had a rosé from Tavel before then you really need to come down to taste this one! Pause any preconceived notions that you have about darker hued rosé being sweet, because this dry, aromatic and powerful rosé will pleasantly surprise you.

We will also be tasting their organic Cote du Rhone Rouge and Blanc. We will definitely be adding these two to our top 25 under $30 list online- so don't miss out!

We had a great visit with Scott and Simon Bishell of Caythorpe wines! They are the 5th generation to work for their family operated winery in New Zealand.

Their award winning Sauvignon Blanc is one of our best sellers and for good reason! Full of mouthwatering tropical notes- I'm currently wondering why I am not drinking it right now?! We have it available in store and online.

We were lucky enough to taste their Pinot Noir. Think cherries, red berries and herbs. It's not available in Alberta yet but we will be bringing it in! This Friday we are opening up over $100 of wine for you to taste. We went with a broad range to cover for needs, because we know some of you might be getting at least a little fancy this weekend.

To start we have an excellent value Bourgogne Crémant. Crémant are French bubbles that are not from Champagne but made in the same method. You'll taste some of the same brioche and nutty notes as Champagne without the major splurge.

Next we have a bright, fresh Italian white made with mostly Vermentino grapes. Think of this as your very elevated patio wine!

Then we have Veronica Ortega's 'Corbana' a Mencia dominate red blend from Spain. A vibrant red with notes of red fruits and herbs. Is amazing with a slight chill!

What began as a "Someday" dream became a reality for a Calgary couple in 2019! That's when they purchased their first grapes from the Okanagan and started making their wines "Hello Sunday". Cork was actually the first store to sell their wines in 2020!

There's a new Pope in the Vatican and a new Chateauneuf-du-Pape on our shelves! We can't wait to open this up on Friday to share with all of you.

Chateau de la Font du Loup is located at one of the highest points in Chateauneuf. They are known for their lively and silky wines that show lots of bright red fruit like cherries, fresh strawberries, spices, and dried herbs.

Rumer has it that there will most likely be some more goodies to taste as well! It is Fancy Friday after all!

From Andreas Bender we have a mix of wines from the Pfalz region in Germany including his rosé. The rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It's not very often that you see those latter two grapes from Germany, so this will be a really fun one to try.

Summer Wines would not be complete without a Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. We have one from Pouilly-Fumé that is sure to delight!
