We had the chance to taste some of the new Oldenburg wines yesterday over a beautiful lunch at Salsify. Nic’s wines are refined, complex, and a must-try when in Stellenbosch.

Our friend Lukas was in the shop this week with his new 2024 releases. If you haven’t tried his Geronimo Cinsault or High Hopes Red Blend yet, this is the perfect time - the 2024s are showing brilliantly. Breton Cabernet Franc, Graft Syrah, Kameraderie and Trust Your Gut Chenin Blanc are all looking strong.

The new David & Nadia release is exceptional! David Sadie stopped by the shop this morning to share his wines with us. Every bottle showed incredible precision and depth, the Chenin Blanc 2024 is something to look out for!

A fantastic new release from Duncan and his team! We had the chance to taste the wines last week, and the 2024 vintage is looking very impressive. Keep an eye out for the Savage White and Savage Red – both are absolute standouts this year.

Anysbos is a gem in Botrivier. When Johan bought the farm in 2008, he started off with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. But over time, they realised other varieties were a better fit for the area. In 2012, they planted the first dryland bush vine Grenache.

Since then, they’ve added Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Syrah and Cinsault. All of these now come together in two blends: Disdit (white) and Tesame (red). Both are among the best in their categories, showing off what Botrivier does best.

We’ve developed a bit of a soft spot for Grenache Noir lately. There’s some incredible examples being made in South Africa, by a lot of new and young producers.

Another brilliant release from Sadie - now with two new wines added to the lineup, bringing the total to 13!

With 64 vineyard blocks spread across the Swartland, Piekenierskloof, the West Coast and Stellenbosch, they pulled off the 2025 harvest in just 35 days - thanks to the new cellar setup working like a dream.

Keep an eye out - these wines will be on the shelves soon. As always, quantities are tiny.

John Seccombe from Thorne & Daughters popped into the shop this week for a tasting of his new release! Always a treat to go through the range-this year weespecially love the Cat’s Cradle Chenin Blanc 2024, Snakes & Ladders Sauvignon Blanc 2024, and the ever-steady Rocking Horse 2023.

Have you heard of Von Wines?
It’s always a treat to open one of their reds on these chilly winter evenings.

Winemaker Rudi, after 15 years in the game, launched Von Wines to focus on bold, character-driven wines. Classic Shiraz, but also more unexpected gems like Durif (also known as Petite Sirah) and Tannat.
