Recognised as a global benchmark competition dedicated exclusively to Sauvignon Blanc, the Sauvignon Selection by CMB attracts nearly 1,000 entries from over 25 countries and is judged by an esteemed panel of international wine experts . Within this highly competitive field, the Kruger Family Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2024 stood out for its balance, expressive aromatics, and refined structure.
On the nose the wine displays a vibrant vegetal with notes of fresh grass, nettle and green pepper, followed by a palate that is both rounded and dense, with beautifully integrated acidity and a harmonious finish . This balance and aromatic clarity were key factors in securing its silver medal distinction.
Owner Reino Kruger attributes the wine’s success to Stellenbosch’s unique terroir and meticulous vineyard practices: “This recognition is a testament to the incredible potential of our vineyards and the care taken at every stage of production. We aim to produce Sauvignon Blanc that reflects both place and precision.”
South Africa’s strong showing at this year’s competition further highlights the country’s growing stature on the global Sauvignon Blanc stage, with an increase in both entries and overall medal count .
