WINE WEDNESDAY

Our featured wine this week is the Duas Quintas Tinto Duoro 2021 from Ramos Pinto.

Duas Quintas embodies the precision, freshness and richness of the wines from this iconic Douro still wine producer. Duas Quintas Red is a wine from the region of Douro Superior, more specifically from Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares, and is a blend of traditional grape varieties that expresses the potential of this most extreme region.

WINE WEDNESDAY

Our featured wine this week is the Tiraki Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from Marlborough, New Zealand.

"Our vineyards are established on Longfield Farm, purchased by the family in 1870. With six generations involved over the past 150 years, the 260Ha property has evolved substantially. However, what has remained constant is the family’s commitment to providing products of the highest quality whilst continuing to nurture the land for future generations.

Since 1999, the property has gradually been developed into an extensive vineyard, growing a variety of premium grapes including Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. High sunshine hours, wide diurnal range, clay soils and our dedicated team work together to produce outstanding grapes that our family winemaker transforms into unique world-class wines."

WINE WEDNESDAY

Our featured wine this week is the Vacqueyras Garrigues 2019 from Montirius.

Beautifully situated in the southern Rhône Valley, our 63 hectares domain with vine classifications in A.O.P Gigondas, A.O.P Vacqueyras and A.O.P Côtes du Rhône has been converted to Bio-Dynamic culture since 1996.

Since 1999, all of our Montirius' wines are therefore made from Organic and Bio-dynamic grapes. Domaine Montirius then became the first vineyard certified in Bio-Dynamic culture in the Gigondas and Vacqueyras appellations.

WINE WEDNESDAY

Our featured wine this week is the Dry Furmint 2022 from Patricius.

Our deep respect for the wine region’s traditions is an important part of our winery’s philosophy. We know that our predecessors achieved great things and we also recognise that these traditions need to be revived and passed on. We live in harmony with traditional values, drawing from them, continuing the work that our ancestors started – and striving to do all this appropriately for the people of today and their challenges. Tradition, values, uniqueness, balance – these express our mission. History, the knowledge and life experience of local people, and the region’s unique character, all what we draw inspiration from. The pursuit of harmony and equilibrium that is typical of the cycle of nature guides and defines our work both in the vineyard and the cellar.

WINE WEDNESDAY

Our featured wine this week is the "R" de Rieussec 2021 from Château Rieussec.

Rieussec is one of the most important vineyards of this appellation. It extends over 85 hectares at the junction of Fargues and Sauternes, adjacent to Château d’Yquem. Its sandy gravel (80%) and clay (20%) soils have been coveted by many owners since its creation.

The emblematic grape variety of the Rieussec terroir is Sémillon, planted on the majority of the vineyard. The other varieties grown are Sauvignon Blanc (17%) and Muscadelle (3%).

The techniques used in the vineyard are traditional to the Sauternes region. Harvesting takes place from September to November, over a period of 6 to 8 weeks, with several successive selections depending on the state of ripeness of the grapes and the development of botrytis cinerea (noble rot).

Production – at the whim of Mother Nature – is often low. It is said here that one vine produces one glass of wine.

In addition, 100% of the Rieussec vineyard is grassed over. An exception in the Sauternes region.
