Hazendal, at the foot of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, has launched their 2025 wines, made by Kiara Scott. New packaging and a breath of fresh air too.

The Hazendal Estate White Blend 2025, a Rhone blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, is just the beginning of something special building. Layers of yellow peach and pear, apricot and yellow flowers. On the palate it shows spice, honey nougat, parsley and basil with a citrus core. Rich enough to hold your attention, fresh enough to keep you reaching for another glass.

Bottelary Hills Syrah 2025 is made for that every day occasion. Fragrant and super expressive immediately, with mulberry, wild blueberry and white pepper wrapped around a savoury, dried herb edge. The palate is vibrant and finely balanced, carrying the hallmark spice and freshness that make Bottelary Hills Syrah such a compelling style.

Safe to say Hazendal is back and we love the new kit.
Kiara’s expression of Stellenbosch is refreshing and we see good things building in the future. Keep an eye out for this farm.

Van Loggerenberg Wines with Lukas Van Loggerenberg
Wednesday 29th of July 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Van Loggerenberg Wines is a boutique winery located in the prestigious wine region of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Established by Lukas and Roxanne Van Loggerenberg in 2016, the winery is celebrated for its dedication to producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines that reflect the unique character of each vineyard and variety.

Lukas, a true Loire-Valley enthusiast turned South African pioneer, channels minimalist, low-intervention winemaking with profound authenticity. Nothing is left to chance however. Reading the vintage, judging winemaking techniques to match the fruit and tannins of the vintage is just some of his meticulous planning that makes him such a master. His wines capture a singular sense of place and pure fruit, vibrant acidity and elegant restraint.

Lukas, now also a CWG member, was rewarded for his meticulous focus by receiving 98 points for Graft Syrah 2024 in the international Vinous report. Not only a high score, but the highest score of all South African wines for the 2025 report.

“For me, freshness and purity are paramount. I want to express the vineyard sites with elegance, balance and bags of flavour.” – Lukas van Loggerenberg

We already know 2025 was a stellar vintage. Join us as we taste the new releases with Lukas and fall in love once again with him and his wines.

Don’t hesitate. Book now. Trust us.

We love Big Bottles and today we have something brand new for you

We have just received the Whole Bunch Magnum Project 2025 by Gabrielskloof. A limited release of only 300 magnums, blending Grenache from Botrivier and Syrah from Polkadraai. Made with whole-bunch fermentation and bottled in the format many winemakers quietly admit they prefer.

Not because it looks impressive, although it certainly does.
Because wine evolves differently in magnum.
Slower. Gracefully. Completely.

A standard bottle says dinner. A magnum says stay a little longer.
This is the sort of bottle that gets placed in the middle of the table and becomes part of the evening’s story.

Available now at Wine Menu.

Our annual release tasting with Chris Alheit remains a highlight on our calendar.

Last night was another one for the books. A night to remember. A night of enthusiastic tasters hanging on every word that comes from Chris’s wise heart.

It is clear that Chris’s passion for caring for the vineyards that form part of the heritage of our South African wine industry runs deep. He truly believes that we have some of the finest Chenin Blanc vineyards in the world and that South Africa has a uniquely expressive way of showcasing the variety.

Cartology remains the true calling card. It is the wine that started the Alheit Vineyards journey and still proudly carries the flag today.

Made up of nine old-vine Chenin Blanc vineyards and one old-vine Semillon vineyard, it reflects what Chris sees as a truly South African wine.

These wines are not only appreciated by us and our customers; they are recognised worldwide for their excellence.

2025 was an exceptional vintage, with each wine reflecting the true identity of the place in which it is rooted.

Thank you, Chris, for sharing your wines, sharing your wisdom, and making us all excited about the future of the South African wine industry.

David & Nadia New Vintage Release Tasting
28th of July from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

David & Nadia Sadie are a young husband and wife team whose thoughtful, sensitive approach to viticulture and winemaking has set them out as one of the Swartland’s shining stars. Their quest to nurture and restore low-yielding old vineyards is an effort to breathe new life into the region’s enviable stock of old vines and shine a light on the qualities of the beautiful Swartland at large. More than that though, they are also establishing new vineyards, which they have planted to Grenache Noir – their flagship variety, along with Chenin Blanc.

Based in the Paaderberg, David and Nadia Sadie have been producing some of South Africa’s most sought after Swartland wines since 2010. Their philosophy is to make wines that express natural balance, purity of fruit and vibrant freshness on the palate. To achieve this, David and Nadia pay respect to their vineyards, nurturing their wines from the soils all the way to the winery. With minimal intervention in the winery, their wines exhibit the efforts put into growing beautiful fruit out of their mountain terrain grow sights and bush vine vineyards.

The core range comprises of four wines: Aristargos, a beautiful Cape White Blend; Elpidios, a Grenache-based Mediterranean blend; and two single varietals – Chenin Blanc and Grenache Noir. At their heart, the core wines are based on vineyards grown in the decomposed granite soils of the Paardeberg, bringing freshness and minerality, blended with schist, iron and clay-based sites, which builds complexity.

At the top of the quality pyramid are four single vineyard Chenin Blancs: Hoë-Steen, Skaliekop, Rondevlei and Plat’Bos, each a faithful reflection of a different underlying soil type (iron-rich clay, shale, and decomposed granite, respectively). From humble beginnings, David & Nadia are now recognised as one of the Cape’s very top producers

Please join us at Wine Menu as we host David for an evening of spectacular old vine and dry land farmed Swartland wines

There is something reassuring about a Cabernet Sauvignon that does not try too hard.

HEEM Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 comes from a single 0.8-hectare Stellenbosch vineyard planted in 1980. Old vines rooted in decomposed granite. Just 1,380 bottles produced.

Crafted by the Carinus family, the winemaking reads like a lesson in patience rather than intervention. Hand harvested. Gentle extraction. Basket pressed. Twenty months in barrel. Nothing rushed.

The result is a wine that feels firmly anchored in the traditions that made Stellenbosch Cabernet famous in the first place. Not built for headlines. Built for the cellar, the table and the years ahead.

For those who still believe great Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most compelling wines, this is worth your attention.

The wine world has spent decades convincing us that great wines need serious names.

Then along comes a Stellenbosch Malbec called Jaa-Bru.

The sort of name that sounds less like a fine wine and more like the answer to a question you probably shouldn’t have asked in the first place.

Thankfully, the wine takes itself far more seriously than the label does.

This is BlankBottle after all. Pieter Walser has built an entire career on making wines that refuse to stand neatly in line, and Jaa-Bru 2024 continues the tradition. A wine with enough substance to satisfy the purists and enough personality to irritate them.

Which, if we’re honest, is often far more entertaining.

If your cellar is filled with wines that wear black tie to breakfast, consider this your invitation to loosen the dress code.

Jaa-Bru 2024 has arrived at Wine Menu.

Raats Family Wines with Bruwer – Tasting Tickets live online right now.

Wednesday 1st of July from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Raats Family is known for Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. A desire to be the best. A dream for family to work together. Since 2000, Bruwer Raats dedicated his life to mastering these two varieties, believing that specialisation would lead to success. The belief was not unfounded, as today, Raats Family wines is regarded as a pioneer and the leader in crafting these two varieties, receiving consistent local and international accolades.

With his cousin Gavin Bruwer Slabbert joining the family business in 2010, this dream of family working together, sharing the passion for crafting fine wines was realised, always believing that together we can achieve more. Today the family business is deep-rooted with Bruwer Raats’ sons also working on the farm. Samuel Raats in the vineyards and cellar along Gavin and Bruwer and Joshua Raats in the marketing team.

MR De Compostella
Two visionary winemakers & lifelong friends, Mzokhona Mvemve & Bruwer Raats, had a meeting of minds to combine their artistry to create a singular wine that transcends time. MR de Compostella was born inspired by a constellation of stars merging together to create something spectacular. A wine driven neither by style nor variety but by its leading component, quality, they take the very best of each variety in each vintage to create an ultra-premium wine of distinction.

MR Vesperi
After a 21-year wait, the maiden vintage Mvemve Raats Vesperi white blend was released last year, named after “the evening star” in Latin. Inspired by the great white blends of Bordeaux, the Vesperi includes a little local South African flavour in the form of 41% of Chenin Blanc to accompany the 37% Sauvignon Blanc and the 22% Semillon portions harvested from seven individual plots grown on decomposed Granite soils in the Polkadraai Hills ward.
