THAT’S A WRAP! 🥃

We’re finally catching our breath after The Only Whisky Show 2025, and want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who joined us in Joburg and Cape Town.
Thank you to each and every one of you who attended, joined a masterclass, supported us with a whisky (or two), or stopped our team for a chat.
Yes, the show is about whisky, but at the heart of whisky are the people. From our early days as nothing more than a blog, WhiskyBrother has always been about community — and we’re deeply grateful to be part of the SA whisky family, playing our role in growing and nurturing it.

A sincere thank you also goes to the brands and importers that participated, and especially to our international guests who made the long journey to join us: Alan (independent guest & Whisky Hall of Famer), Connal (Adelphi & Ardnamurchan), Mike (Ian Macleod Distillers), and Terry (Hinch).

Bushmill’s 10yo 43%, R495 (Save R165)

Our Malt of the Month for August is the Bushmill’s 10yo. Buy this Irish single malt whiskey on offer during the month and save, while stocks last.

First released in early 1980s, the Bushmills 10 Year Old is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, matured for a minimum of ten years in bourbon casks, with a small portion aged in Oloroso sherry casks. Relaunched in 2021 with updated packaging, the 10 Year Old now features a new bottle design inspired by the Giant’s Causeway, the iconic basalt rock formation on Northern Ireland’s coast — a nod to the distillery’s heritage.

Expect accents of zesty citrus fruits, sweet aromas of fresh vanilla and creamy chocolate. Fresh honeysuckle & toasted oak.

Taking back the top spot is the Edradour 10yo Small Batch, which continues to impress — and looks set to sell out soon. In 2nd place is the Loch Lomond Open Edition 2022, which offered excellent value as July’s Malt of the Month. Making their debut in 3rd and 4th are two of our newest exclusives: the Benrinnes 15yo bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd, and our first-ever charity bottling, the Ben Nevis 10yo by Signatory. (With R200 from each bottle donated to a South African charity, we're hoping to see this climb to #1 in August!) Penderyn Single Bourbon Cask 59.9%, R1,690

For our 6th release of the year (two of which are already sold out), we're proud to introduce our second Penderyn exclusive from the pioneering Welsh distillery, established in 2000.

This single malt was distilled in 2015, matured for 10 years in a first-fill bourbon cask and bottled this year. Only 192 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and at cask strength.

Expect a fruity dram with spiced fruits, juicy pineapple and banana sweets. Sweet custard, apples, and creamy vanilla follow, balanced by gentle spice.

Taking 1st place for the second time in a row is our Glenlivet 17yo Signatory Exclusive — making its final appearance in the top five, as it's now sadly sold out! In 2nd is our Malt of the Month, the Tamdhu 12yo, its sherry influence keeping fans warm this winter. Making an impressive debut in 3rd is our latest exclusive, the new Glen Scotia single cask, already garnering great feedback from fans. In 4th, the ever-reliable Edradour 10yo is still kicking about, though its days are numbered as stock continues to dwindle. We are very excited to announce that our special guest at this year’s show will be retired Master Distiller and Master of the Quaich, Alan Wi******er!

Alan brings half a century of whisky dedication to this year's show, rising through the ranks to helm some of Speyside’s most iconic producers, overseeing more than 20 malt distilleries — including Glenlivet, Aberlour, Strathisla, Longmorn, and Glen Grant.

We’re honoured to welcome Alan to South Africa for the very first time. His knowledge, passion, and distinguished career make him a standout addition to the show, where he’ll host a daily masterclass and be on the showroom floor to meet, greet, sign bottles, and share drams.
