🍋 The Limoncello Spritz — sunshine with a little sparkle!

Fresh, bright and wonderfully refreshing, the Limoncello Spritz is one of those cocktails that tastes like summer ought to feel. Fast replacing the Aperol Spritz as the summer cocktail of choice, all over Europe!

Made with Deep South Limoncello, crafted from the zest of fresh Cape lemons, it combines vibrant citrus with crisp bubbles for an effortlessly elegant drink.

The Limoncello Spritz Recipe
🍋 50 ml Deep South Limoncello
🥂 75 ml Prosecco or dry sparkling w**e
💦 25 ml soda water
🧊 Plenty of ice
🍋 Lemon wheel or twist to garnish

Fill a large w**e glass generously with ice. Add the Limoncello, top with Prosecco and a splash of soda, then stir gently. Garnish with a fresh lemon wheel.That’s it. Simple, sparkling and dangerously easy to enjoy.

Just remember the perfect ratio: 3:2:1 (3 tots prosecco, 2 tots Limoncello, 1 tot soda)

You can pick up a bottle of Deep South Limoncello from the distillery or order from our online shop — then invite a few friends over and make a round of Limoncello Spritzes this weekend. Best served cold, preferably somewhere sunny.

There’s something wonderfully indulgent about a really good Limoncello — intensely lemony, beautifully aromatic and served ice cold. Deep South Limoncello is handcrafted in small batches using the zest of fresh Cape lemons, capturing their fragrant citrus oils and unmistakable fresh-lemon character. The result is a vibrant, smooth Limoncello with a delicious balance of citrus, sweetness and lingering zest.

Keep a bottle in the freezer and serve it ice cold after dinner, pour it over ice, or add a splash to sparkling w**e or your favourite summer cocktail.

We are so pleased that our clients are in the medals again.

Congratulations this time to USA-based Ginfuse on again winning multiple medals in some highly competitive global competitions this year, doing well against entries from all over the world .

The three gins that Deep South Distillery developed specifically for Ginfuse (Sunset Naartjie, Butterfly Blue (Blueberry) and Cape Citrus won medals in three competitions including:
- London Spirits Competition 2026 (two golds and a silver)
- American Distillers Institute Spirits Competition 2026 (Two Best in Category International Gin awards and two silver medals)
- San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2026 (one gold, one silver and a bronze medal)

It's Oddbins Time again! Two very special award-winning export gins in very limited quantities. Only available in South Africa because we always make a little extra when we are doing contract distilling - and it is too good to discard - so we bottle what we have as Oddbins!

Pink Mandarin is a Naartjie-infused citrus gin with a hint of hibiscus blush. African Dawn is a gorgeous blue gin infused with fresh blueberries. It turns pink when you add mixers and garnish (you have heard about the Blue Pea flower yes?) It reminds us of waking up before dawn, somewhere in Africa, and watching the sky turn from dark blue to pink as night turns to day. Priced at an amazing R310/bottle

Looks like beautiful weather for this Thursday for a change, not that the wind bothers us with out tree-shaded, sheltered patio at Christinas Cocktail and W**e Bar!

The December edition of First Thursday looks like being the biggest and best yet. Lots to see and do and a selection of Xmas stocking fillers from all the little shops and art studios.
