🕊️ A few months ago, we proudly introduced you to David.
Today, we remember him with heavy hearts. 🤍

It is with deep sadness that we share that David has passed away after a period of illness. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the many customers whose lives he touched over the years.

David will be deeply missed — but never forgotten.
It’s not goodbye. It’s “we’ll see you again.”

Our secret fuel additive will always be: POSITIVITY — just like David.🕊️

🎸🎤 Meet Benedict – Our Rockin’ Newbee (2 Years at Engen Sherwood Gardens)! 🎤🎸

Only 2 years in, and Benedict is already proving he’s got the fuel to go far. 🚀 His current gig? Merchandiser (basically the guy who makes sure everything looks so good you want to buy it twice).

🎶 Fun fact: Just like Petrus and Tshidi, he’s into music & singing… at this point we’re convinced Engen Sherwood Gardens needs its own band. 🎵🔥

What Benedict loves:
👉 Meeting all kinds of people (characters of every “genre”).
👉 Jamming through challenges – even the rude customers (he treats them like heavy metal, not everyone’s cup of tea but still music 🎸).

If loyalty was fuel, Petrus would be running on super unleaded. He’s been with Engen for 17 years – proof that we must be doing it right.

👔 Job title: Compliance Co-ordinator (a fancy way of saying he keeps us all in line).
⚽ Hobbies: Soccer & music (seems to be the Engen staff theme song 🎶).
🎤 Fun fact: Petrus can SING – so if you hear smooth vocals at the pumps, it’s probably him, not your playlist.

What keeps him going?
👉 Meeting customers from every background.
👉 A supportive team that makes work feel like family.
👉 Coaching younger staff like it’s the Engen World Cup. 🏆

Meet Joel – 18 Years of Shelf Power & Ubuntu!⛽
Joel has been with Engen Sherwood Retail Centre for 18 years, mastering the art of merchandising. Need snacks, cool drinks, or that late-night chocolate bar? 🍫 Joel’s got your back.

When he’s not keeping the shelves looking more organised than the forecourt traffic flow, Joel’s out playing soccer ⚽ or dancing - burning more energy than our premium unleaded. He says the best part of Engen is learning new languages and cultures from customers (plus sneaking in a smile or two while he’s at it). 😁
Smiles so bright, they outshine the price boards.

For Joel, excellent service is all about teamwork, respect, and a spirit of Ubuntu - “I am because we are.” He believes fueling up isn’t just for cars - it’s for hearts too. ❤️

David’s passions include soccer ⚽, music 🎶, reading 📖, and of course, chatting with customers while filling their tanks. For him, the real fuel isn’t petrol - it’s the joy of meeting new people every day and sending them off happier than when they arrived. 🚙💨

He swears his motivation comes from happy customers and a supportive team, proving that when the station runs on love and respect, everyone leaves on a full tank. ❤️

👉 Fun fact: David is so much of a people’s person, we’re convinced if you parked here long enough, he’d adopt you into the Engen family.

Meet James – Our Site Captain, employed at Engen Sherwood Gardens for the past 21 Years!⛽

James has been fueling up smiles at Engen for over two decades - that’s longer than some of our customers have been driving! 🚗💨 As a Site Captain he is assisting with the smooth running of the forecourt - smoother than a freshly oiled engine.

When he’s not managing the forecourt, James is out playing soccer ⚽ and listening to music 🎶. His secret to 21 years of service? A positive attitude and good people - because at Engen, it’s not just about topping up cars, it’s about topping up hearts too. ❤️

👉 Fun fact: James says working at Engen feels like home - where management, staff, and customers all run on the same premium fuel: respect, care, and a lot of laughs!
