Positioned on the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains, and owned and run by Tymen, Jenny and Lance Bouma, Anura Vineyards boasts a wide variety of soils, slopes and microclimates. At Anura, the aim is to produce wines which combine the robust fruit of the New World with the elegance and complexity of Old-World winemaking styles. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, machine-sorted to remove leaves, broken berries and stalks, and then hand-sorted to ensure that only the best bunches are selected for crushing. Their passion is red wine, with plantings of Mourvédre, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Pinot Noir, angiovese and Malbec among the classic, locally grown varietals. They aim to produce handcrafted wines for individuals who are looking for something unique and distinctive.

USE YOUR HEAD

Original Crystal Head Vodka is crafted from locally sourced, Canadian corn, distilled four times into a neutral grain spirit and blended with pristine water from Newfoundland, Canada. The vodka is filtered seven times, of which three are through layers of semi-precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. The iconic skull-shaped bottle, produced in Europe, has crystal melted into the glass to ensure absolute clarity.

Crystal Head Vodka offers a clean, clear and colourless spirit, with neutral grain aromas and a delicate touch of citrus on the nose, silky smoothness with a hint of sweetness and vanilla in the mouth, and a sweet, creamy finish.

Fun Fact: Due to the lack of additive-free vodka on the market in 2008, actor Dan Aykroyd decided to create one himself - Crystal Head Vodka. Artist John Alexander designed the bottle, based on the pair's shared fascination with the legend of the thirteen crystal skulls.

The official wine of Father's Day - Seriously Old Dirt by Vilafonté, for seriously cool Dads!

Seriously Old Dirt 2022 exhibits a deep ruby colour. This Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend exudes delicate floral notes elegantly layered with rich, expressive red and black fruit, blackcurrant, black plum, dark cherry and raspberry float energetically from the glass. Spicy cinnamon stick and subtle clove add further dimension and complexity to a vibrant fruit profile. Entry onto the palate is smooth and a plush, silky texture persists on the mid-palate where the concentrated black fruit interlaced with dark chocolate has an energetic presence. A firm but balanced structure gives gentle palate weight, with long-lasting savoury spice on the finish. Satin-like tannins coupled with fresh acidity adds liveliness to this medium-bodied wine, allowing immediate enjoyment and will continue to give pleasure for five to ten years.

Pair with Beef or Strip Loin and Lamb and especially Venison.
