The Story

As a kid, I loved the idea of having a little shop. Growing up, I'd set one up in my room: ringing up imaginary customers or gathering, pricing and arranging items for yard sales. I love the special one to one moment when a person discovers that special little something for a friend or themselves.

One on one personal interaction fuels me. Working retail in a large store just doesn’t offer that intimate experience for the customer.

‘Dawn’s Dragonfly’ was my first full-on retail venture. I sublet half of the small storefront of a tanning salon on busy main street in Lakewood, OH, a suburb of Cleveland. There, I offered my own hand-made greeting cards, t-shirts, candles, incense and other clothing and wares.

It’s been a long time since I thought about having my own space again, until coming to Joshua Tree and discovering the Shops at Zanny’s. Given my fascination with tiny homes and spaces, the individual 10x12 shops started my mind racing again with thoughts of a shop.
