Water Main Break Update on 96th Ave. in Borculo area:
What happened:
A water main on 96th Avenue between Henry Ct and Blair Street in the Borculo area broke on Thursday afternoon, April 30, 2026.
Repairs were undertaken and then completed by 3:00am Friday May 1st, 2026 with the assistance of multiple subcontractors. To complete the repair process, watermain valves were closed in the area south of Blair Street to New Holland Street which was then without water pressure.
Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, a precautionary boil water advisory is recommended and bacteriological samples are collected. Water supply staff from Ottawa County Department of Public Utilities will be flushing water mains and collecting bacteriological samples to ensure that the water meets state drinking water standards.
Who is affected:
The Boil Water Advisory effects customers along 96th Avenue from New Holland Street to south of Blair Street. This includes the water customers on Doug Fir Drive, Blue Spruce Court, Prairie Ridge Avenue and Prairie Ridge Court.
What does the customer need to know:
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice.
We anticipate having bacteriological sample results by Sunday, May 3, 2026, 9 a.m. Customers will be advised when the bacteriological results have passed and the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.
