Anew wants to remind everyone that some area schools are already back in session for the year, and many others are soon to follow. That means school busses are back on the road, and excited students are out there every morning waiting for their rides to school, or are anxious to get home at the end of a long day. Please be extra cautious and obey all traffic rules and the bus warning lights, as many young students are doing this for the first time, while others are getting back into the bus-riding routine. It only takes a few extra seconds to do the right thing.

Also, it won’t be long until fall harvest season is here, and that means the school busses will be joined on the road by tractors, combines, trucks and other slow-moving farm equipment. These folks are trying to move from farm-to-field, or field-to-farm as quickly as possible, and they don’t like being on the road any more than you like them being there.
So please give our farmers a little grace, and be cautious as you pass, knowing that the larger vehicles are not that nimble, and moving off to the side isn’t always an option.
Remember, road safety is a two-way street.

Water Main Break Update on 96th Ave. in Borculo area:

What happened:
A water main on 96th Avenue between Henry Ct and Blair Street in the Borculo area broke on Thursday afternoon, April 30, 2026.

Repairs were undertaken and then completed by 3:00am Friday May 1st, 2026 with the assistance of multiple subcontractors. To complete the repair process, watermain valves were closed in the area south of Blair Street to New Holland Street which was then without water pressure.

Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, a precautionary boil water advisory is recommended and bacteriological samples are collected. Water supply staff from Ottawa County Department of Public Utilities will be flushing water mains and collecting bacteriological samples to ensure that the water meets state drinking water standards.

Who is affected:
The Boil Water Advisory effects customers along 96th Avenue from New Holland Street to south of Blair Street. This includes the water customers on Doug Fir Drive, Blue Spruce Court, Prairie Ridge Avenue and Prairie Ridge Court.

What does the customer need to know:
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice.

We anticipate having bacteriological sample results by Sunday, May 3, 2026, 9 a.m. Customers will be advised when the bacteriological results have passed and the Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

What a great day for a parade!! We'll take chilly and sunny over rain any day.
Thank you to the Dandelion Festival and all the volunteers for working so hard to keep this wonderful local tradition alive, and for making it better each year.
And we have to thank Zeeland Freight Services driver Carl Clark and his family for driving the ZFS show truck, handing out coupons along the parade route and taking photos.
Also, thank you to ZFS employee Brandon LaRosa for contributing pictures.
We hope you all received coupons, and that you'll redeem them in the store once the water issue is resolved and we can start serving fountain drinks again.

Due to a water main break on Thursday afternoon, water main valves in the area south of Blair Street to New Holland Street were closed, resulting in a loss of water pressure. As a precautionary measure, a boil water advisory has been issued, and bacteriological samples have been collected following the loss of pressure in the water system. This situation affects our operations. Consequently, we are unable to sell coffee, fountain soda, slushies, cappuccinos, or milkshakes, which is why signs are posted on the doors and machines. We would greatly appreciate your understanding and kindness towards our staff during the remainder of the time (it was a rough day for them due to the dandelion parade), as we prioritize everyone's safety until the water is deemed safe for consumption. Thank you for your understanding.
