Germany’s most important grape variety, Riesling, celebrates its birthday today, Friday, March 13th, as it was on this day in the year 1435 that the grape variety was mentioned for the first time in a written document. To celebrate, we're offering up something special: Peter Lauer Ayler Kupp Kabinett "Fass 8" 2024, which arrives in just a few weeks! ⁠

⁠Lauer's prized holding is the massive Kupp vineyard, which is a consolidation of many historic vineyards on one long hillside in the village of Ayl. The Fass 8 Kabinett is harvested from the historic core of Kupp. The 2024 vintage was particularly low-yielding in the Mosel, but luckily, we scored a solid allocation of Lauer's well-priced, estate-grown Kabinett.⁠

We've recently secured a small parcel of the 2023 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'La Crau' and could not be more excited! The fruit for this bottling comes from the estate's oldest vines, averaging 70 years. The blend is roughly 65% Grenache, 15% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, and the remainder Cinsault, Clairette, and the like. The resulting wine is one of incredible depth, concentration, and a minerality that provides excellent freshness. ⁠
