Alcohol consumption in the United States has dropped to its lowest level in nearly a century, marking a major cultural shift. Federal data shows fewer Americans are drinking overall, with younger generations leading the move toward moderation or sobriety.

Health awareness, changing social norms, and the rise of movements like sober curious and Dry January have helped make not drinking more socially accepted. Non-alcoholic beers, zero-proof spirits, and craft mocktails are also giving people more options without alcohol.

While traditional drinking occasions still exist, both frequency and volume of alcohol use continue to decline nationwide. As this trend grows, it is reshaping social life and forcing the alcohol industry to adapt to a new, more health-conscious reality.
