The Mail Doesn't Deliver on Sunday, But Flurer Does! TQ/Win in 17.5 Stock @ 2025 TOUR Nationals!
CHESAPEAKE, VA - Coastal RC Speedway was the battle ground this past weekend for the 2025 TOUR Nationals. This was the host location back in 2021, and once again the venue brought in a great crowd and deep competition in all oval classes. The PRW team brought down drivers from the north and also met up with Coastal locals to bring an impressive group to the racetrack to do battle.
1/12 Stock Truck was headed by the boss, Steve Pemberton, along with Plattsburgh, NY native Jason Peryea. The two traded TQ runs with their Chief-12.2 chassis all weekend, with the upper hand going to Peryea in the final round to start on pole. Unfortunately, tough luck in the A-Main for the man we call "Rudy" resulted in a 3rd place finish and Pemberton settling into 2nd place, right where he started. Add in the contributions of Marty Peters, Bugsy Malone and Dan Murn, and PRW chassis made up 5 of the 8 A-finalists. We would like to congratulate our good friend, and coordinator of the Nationals, Zach Lock on the victory!
Northeast racing legend and team driver Marty Peters, always the model of consistency, entered in 13.5 RTT with his 4.8 and submitted a very solid 3rd place finish. 3rd seemed to be his number all weekend, turning in four nearly identical runs to secure the final spot on the podium. Well done, Mart!
Longtime team driver and cornerstone of Walt's Hobby, Todd Ferguson turned in yet another solid campaign in SK-Kar, finishing in 3rd with his SJ-8.2. It wasn't very often Ferguson was found outside the podium this season. Dan Murn also turned in a solid 5th place campaign with his SJ-8 2023-24. Thank you for support and well done, guys!
The man of the weekend was the young man we refer to as "The Killa". Kamron Flurer cemented he was going to be a player in 17.5 Stock from the first time his 4.8 touched the carpet. After running 3rd in both rounds 1 and 2 of qualifying, Flurer clutched up in round 3 to set a new TQ and claim pole spot for the A-Main. The main was simply perfection from tone to tone, as the pack swarmed from behind but ultimately they couldn't catch Kam, who crossed the line in front of our good friend Nick Bell by 0.315 seconds. Flurer's first TOUR National Championship only adds to his very impressive resume on both carpet and dirt oval. The PRW 4.8 collects yet another title. Stock, Modified, Rubber Tire - we've got the answer to your questions. Congrats, Killa!
Thanks to the whole Coastal RC staff for a great event. In the "down" time of the season, we will still be processing/shipping orders and ramping up both our carbon and product inventory for what is certain to be an epic 2025-26 indoor season. We'll see you all there - in the meantime, please consider stopping out to one of Sarge's EastCoast Carpet Oval Series events during the summer!
