November’s wines of the month club is ready for pick up! This month’s curated selection:
A silken, beautifully textured Cairrane ( village between Rasteau and Gigondas in the southern Rhone.)
A Loire Valley, mineral driven, fresh and bright Pouilly Fume.
From Penedes, the light yet complex and woven with flinty, mineral, apricot- honey suckle & lime Xarel-lo.
And from southern Piedmont, a fruity, friendly, and pleasing Barbera.
Each wine of course comes with it’s own recipe for a perfect pairing.

Cory’s Latest Blog: “Conventional farming in winemaking”. On any given day a customer will come in and ask for popular commercial wine brands that are available at the liquor stores along the Post Road. Our constant answer for these brands is “no, we don’t carry that, they use herbicides, pesticides and synthetics in the vineyard, we are happy to recommend a wine for you with a similar taste profile.” For those in the know of industrial farming they immediately thank us for letting them know and are happy to take a recommendation. Others, may be confused by what we are saying to them. Grapes are a commodity crop and often produced by Industrial Agriculture. Depending on the customer’s interest we will explain further that Roundup is used widely in conventional farming which is industrial farming. Studies have linked Roundup with health dangers including cancers, Parkinson’s, and infertility. Most often we win our customers over and see them return over and over again. There are so many assumptions made on wine; clients will assume that we have only “fancy, or expensive” wine, even our most modest priced wines are farmed correctly and meet our standards. Others assume if a wine is expensive or super expensive that Roundup or the other hundred chemicals that are allowed in conventional winemaking would not be used. Not the case. From the Bodegas Valduero winery in Ribera del Duero a fantastic, powerful white from the varietal Abillo Mayor it shows great viscosity and perfect balance. This is a wine that will work with so many foods, a must try! Crostinis of herbed white bean purée with beet greens & roasted garlic and herbed ricotta with artichokes, roasted tomatoes and lemon zest. Delicious & Cheers!
