I’m Kinipela, founder of Hawaiian Store. As a flight attendant traveling the world, living in Hawaiʻi, and being based on the mainland, I began bringing back island favorites for friends and family—what started as a small favor grew into a thriving women-owned small business. At Hawaiian Store, we offer a carefully curated selection of Hawaiian snack favorites, locally roasted coffee, body care products, and specialty gifts, along with hand-carved wood items, kukui nut lei, and shell lei. A nice stretch of sand at lower tide, but much less beach at high tide. The stairways down to the beach are still closed off due to washouts and missing sand at the bottom. Still waiting for more sand to come back! 🤙🏾

Mokapu Beach update 🌊

At low tide, there’s sand along much of the beach in front of the Andaz. To reach the north end, you’ll still need to cross a stretch of lava rocks. The beach remains narrow at high tide.

Finally, there’s enough sand at low tide to walk a good stretch of Keawakapu Beach from the “Sidewalks” entrance. The south entrance is still rocky, and the sand hasn’t returned there yet.

We’re grateful that the Kihei–Wailea area escaped the wrath of Nolo, and we’re thinking of everyone elsewhere who have been impacted. , , , , , waileabeach

Nolo is bringing very different weather to different parts of Maui. Here in South Kīhei, it’s been dead calm. Friends in Olowalu say the wind is howling, and crews are working to put out a brush fire there.

If you’re headed toward Lahaina, Honoapiʻilani Highway is closed between North Kīhei Rd. and the Olowalu Store. Please check Maui County’s latest updates before traveling. (mauicounty.gov⁠)

Thinking of everyone in Olowalu and the first responders working to get the fire out. Please stay safe. ❤️

Have had some requests, so here’s another one from Kahamanini Beach, also known as Wailea Beach. At high tide there still isn’t much beach, but this video was taken about two hours before low tide, when there was plenty of beach. If you time it right, there’s decent sand here, at least for now.
