Staff Spotlight: LILIANA (LILY) 💫

Lily recently joined us on staff, and we are thrilled to have her aboard! This is an exciting year in Lily's life as she just turned 16 {Shoutout a "happy birthday"!}, which means she's on her way to receiving that license. Woo-hoo! 🚘

Liliana is a junior at Peters Township High School this year. She lives with her dad, mom, twin brothers, & older sister; along with their 2 dogs & 2 cats.

Three words that might best describe Lily are "funny, welcoming, and kind". Some activities that Lily most enjoys are pickleball, field hockey, and Campus Life; with pickleball truly being her "happy place". 🏑

When asked for something about her that might surprise people, she replied that her family has owned sheep before. It seems Lily is a country girl at heart. Her favorite music genre is definitely country, and she dreams of living on a big farm someday and owning a horse. Showing her adventurous spirit, she also named "going abroad" on her bucket list. 🌏

It seems Lily also has a real love for the ocean. One of her favorite life experiences was going to the Outer Banks with her family, and she says that she'd love to learn how to surf someday. 🏄‍♀️

Lily's favorite food is fried chicken, and her favorite dessert is cheesecake. One luxury she "could not live without" is running water. And while it's not quite a fear, she is not a big fan of bugs. Possibly worth noting (especially since it's a staff duty here) is that a chore she hates doing is washing the dishes. Since she says that what she most loves about working at the store is "the people", we're guessing building those relationships will make even dishwashing worthwhile. 💦

When asked whom she'd choose to spend a day with, if it could be anyone living or dead, she chose Jesus. Several goals/dreams she has for herself, are to go to college, get a job she really enjoys, and build a family. 🏠

Lily, seeing how you are handling your very first job here at TCS, we are confident you will succeed in every season of your life, if you keep your determination and positive attitude. 😁

Sometimes the “lost & found” items are fun. . . This one Andrew was able to get back to its original owner before we even had time to post it as “lost”.

Who’s mastered this thing in their lifetime? And who spent hours trying to get there?

I mentioned yesterday, at a baby shower, that vintage toys have really been making a comeback in popularity. Sometimes we could all could use a little old-fashioned fun. . . Share with us a game or toy you loved to play with in your childhood! 🪀🪁🧸

Another bittersweet “goodbye” as we send Jesselyn {Jess} off with hugs, prayers, & tears. . . With 5 years of working here, Jesselyn has been what many here refer to as “a ray of sunshine”. She has freely offered daily pep talks (literally entering the building with phrases like, “Good morning, everyone! Today is going to be amazing!”). She’s been a listening ear & encourager to all around her. She’s intentionally shown appreciation for Carter’s endless dad jokes & riddles, & she’s lovingly explained to me the meanings of current slang.

Jess has truly been a treasured friend to us & more like family than anything. . . She’s been one whom we’ve called for prayer & advice, because of her humble & compassionate heart, & her godly wisdom. We want to be more like Jess in so many ways.

Jess, as you move to Virginia to pursue time with family & your nursing (ICU) career, we wish you continued joy, beautiful new friendships, & rewarding work days. Above all, we pray that you grow closer to the Lord & continue to do all that you do to the glory of God! Love you so, so much; & you’d better come back and visit! 💕

At the site of the old country mercantile, carrying on its spirit, we provide a sweet mix of old-fashioned simplicity & modern-day conveniences. Your neighborhood hot-spot long famous for its pepperoni rolls & small-town feel. We now offer full-service (made-from-scratch) breakfast, Tuesday-Saturday. Our everyday full lunch menu includes daily hot specials on weekdays (counter-service; dining room seating or to-go). Our deli service supplies our customers with fresh cuts of quality meats & cheeses, as well as our made-in-house deli salads and ever-popular deviled eggs. Nestled along the railroad tracks of Venetia (Peters Township) & just down the road from Mingo Creek Park, we’re set in a quaint but convenient location. Stop on by & enjoy what we have to offer!
