July 4, 2025: Happy Birthday America!! Just letting you know that The Plain Folk General Store will be OPEN OUR REGULAR HOURS for the entire July 4th weekend, including Friday, July 4. We have everything you need to make your holiday grill-out special including: Ice, Beer, Wine, Charcoal, buns, supplies, etc. OR if you are not the grilling type, lets us cook you up a hot, freshly baked pizza, hoagie, or wings! Just a reminder for those of us who live inside the Pleasant Plain Village limits: This Saturday, May 17, have your junk by the side of the road by 8:00am! If you have no junk to put out, then just stick your head out your door and wave, I (Johnny B.) will be the one hanging on the back of the Rumpke truck!!

Election Day for the Fire and EMS Levy is tomorrow, Tuesday May 6th. Voting is at Fire Station 81 at the corner of Morrow Rossburg and SR 132 for all township residents. Voting starts at 6:30AM and closes at 7:30PM.

This levy is critical for the survival of your fire and EMS department. We haven’t had a levy increase in 24 years, volunteerism is down, calls are up and we are simply at the breaking point where there isn’t enough people or money to operate the department.

The levy will provide the critically needed funding for part-time staff to guarantee the community a staffed ambulance 24/7/365.

Just today two EMS calls in Harlan Township were answered by mutual aid ambulances due to no volunteers being availible to respond, this is happening on an almost daily basis and puts our community, property and lives at risk when there is no one to answer the call.
