A new Highway to Heaven. Our famous Highway 82, eastern 8 miles, is getting repaved this summer and finished up soon. Improving upon the old deer trail, Ute Indian path, and stage coach road to Aspen over Independence Pass. Truly among the most beautiful drives in the World, the trip over Independence Pass is one of the “essentials” for any Colorado vacation or road trip. Crunch time!! Race season in Twin Lakes is 5 weeks away and here at gateway to Hope Pass, we are here to help with cold drinks, beer, bars, hydration mixes, deli sandwiches, shirts and Hope Pass posters and stickers, pep talk and local knowledge. And three food trucks in the village with hot food! It all started when the original course from the 80s was modified slightly to come into the village to better support runners services, pacer pickup, spectators, and local business! Thanks Ken and Merilee for that too!!!
