Being in the center of one of the world’s most famous ultramarathons makes for a busy day. Thankyou for coming in and being part of the Leadville Trail 100! Since 1984, the race has been coming thru our village and it marks the end of summer and beginning of the fall tourist season but don’t worry, we don’t have lines like this again so pop in and grab some shirts, hats and gifts!

Open-all of us-we’ve never closed. Businesses, Highways, Lodging, Restaurants, Stores, most Campgrounds. There has been major impact and loss and caution and pre-evacuation notices across the state and in some areas locally but none of us have closed. There has been confusion on this from news media, social media, the Governor, and the rumormill. come on up this summer or come on back!

Nine Year Anniversary of owning and running this corner of authenticity! That’s only 6% of the store’s history but it feels like a lifetime of work and and memories. Happy 4th and welcome to the mountains! Twin Lakes is fortunate to be safe from fires and is not under threat. All business’ are open here with our store, coffee shops, gallery, food trucks, restaurant for breakfast, , lodging and SUP/kayak rentals. Leadville main street and businesses are open. Major fires are still raging in Colorado and threatening communities and many have lost their homes and properties and we encourage visitors to remember to support small business and seek out recovery charities to help mountain communities stay strong.

When our shop dog helps install trail signs, you know you’re in the right place! Twin Lakes is safe from the fires and the CT/CDT/Collegiate Loop is open south of us. We’re here to help you get restarted to head back on trail. Coffee shops, restaurant breakfast, food trucks lunch (most days) and our needy shop dog guarding our resupply section are here in the Village to help!

The current fires in Colorado are not impacting Twin Lakes. All roads and services are open and all residents and businesses stand ready to help Leadville residents in anyway if needed. The Willow fire is 20 miles north and heading away from us. Currently the fire is in the National Forest with heavy winds forecasted today. Developed areas West of Leadville are under evacuation orders. We ask all visitors in Colorado and the Western states to learn and follow without question the fire bans rules that are posted in every mountain county. To the cheers of thousands, a new trail is getting built that will join the Village directly with the Colorado Trail and Continental Divide Trail and cut out two miles of the highway on the round-the-lake hike and mountain bike trail. is building it and will have volunteer groups from Leadville and Twin Lakes pitching in this summer. Motu snuck on a roughed out section this morning to test it out!
