The things you see at The Tee P*e!

Road trips have a way of making you pull over for a town you didn’t plan on remembering. Then you look around and realize the place has been greeting travelers a long time, with neon, low buildings, and that wide-open stretch of sky New Mexico does so well.

Out here, you can still feel the old highway days in the bones of the place. Motels, cafes, and weathered storefronts all seem to be holding on to their stories, even when the traffic has changed and the pace has slowed.

I’ve always liked towns that know exactly what they are. This one does, and it wears the miles just fine.
