Thank you to everyone who keeps liking Tilford's. Though the store wasn't profitable and we closed 3 years ago, it's nice to know people still love the concept of a retailer not being a chain store.

Incidentally (referencing our last post), the tax lien holder took a loss and we still own the building. If anyone wants to invest about a million dollars, we can promise no return on your investment, but you could have the satisfaction of owning an old hotel and a nostalgic variety store.

To our fans: on Sept 10th, the new owner will be filing for possession of the old 12 Points Hotel building. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this building over the last 16 years, but because of the decline of the neighborhood, we could no longer find tenants, and therefore, no longer pay the property taxes. The building is assessed at $168,000, when I could find no buyer at any price. The formula Indiana uses to assess real estate is extremely flawed, making the assessed value of old buildings in depressed neighborhoods way out of line with market values. So, my friends, it's been real, it's been fun... but it hasn't been real fun...

Had an interesting dream last night that the store was in the big corner space of the hotel building, and I was putting up big Halloween banners inside. Weird... ? Oh well, such are dreams. I definitely still have some unresolved issues in my subconscious about closing the store and losing the building...

Interesting, people continue to 'like' our page, even though we are no longer open *shrugs* maybe someday we'll try again.
