History of Halloween
Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition which is observed in a number of countries on October 31st. Also known as "All Hallows' Eve" or "Holy Evening", it originated with the ancient Celtic harvest festivals where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. It is also thought to be influenced by Christian practices and falls on the evening before All Hallows' Day, or "All Saints' Day", a time to honor all saints and martyrs.
Halloween has now evolved into a festive community-based event with child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins and wearing costumes.
