is currently conducting a death investigation in Valrico.

On April 2, 2025, at 4 p.m., HCSO's Communications Center received a call regarding a possible accidental injury.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 4200 Block of Amber Ridge Lane in Valrico, where they found an adult female in need of medical attention. She was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

PUTTING AWAY CRIMINALS TARGETING CHILDREN – This week, arrested Michael Durshimer, 31, of Land O’Lakes, on three felony counts each for traveling to meet a minor for s*x and lewd or lascivious battery, and one felony count for unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The arrest is a result of FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals soliciting children for a s*xual relationship online and sharing files depicting the s*xual abuse of children.

has charged Antonio Gueits, 18, with First-Degree Murder following a violent attack that led to the death of a 65-year-old woman.
On December 26, 2024, Gueits attacked and robbed the victim at the University Area Park. She remained hospitalized until March 16, 2025, when she died due to her injuries.

"This was a completely senseless and inhumane attack over nothing more than a purse," 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. “This innocent woman was left unconscious, suffering, and fighting for her life for months because of this man’s horrific actions. Now, with her tragic passing, we will make sure he is held fully accountable for this brutal crime.”

­The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man following a fatal crash that left one victim deceased and three children seriously injured.
On February 27, 2025, Nicholas Betancourt, 33, was arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for driving under the influence. He was released the following day at approximately 9 a.m.
That same day, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Betancourt, whose license was suspended, was driving northbound on Gunn Highway when he entered the southbound lanes and struck another vehicle. The crash resulted in the death of the driver, Dana Rivera, 36, and seriously injured three of her children: a 4-year-old, a 6-year-old, and a 15-year-old.
On March 13, 2025, arrested Betancourt.
