A little behind the scenes of the process of custom furniture. Creating a hand drawn template for a desk chair back because my CNC currently doesnt exist. Did a deep dive into chair design to include proper dimensions and all the science behind ergonomics. This template will be used to cut out a rough shape for the back posts and as a router template guide for finish trimming.

Solid walnut floating nightstand with ebonized white oak drawer front. I have been working on remodeling and updating my sons room (more pics to come in the future) and this is the latest addition. It can be moved up, down, and across his French cleat accent wall whenever he wants to change things up. Box and drawers constructed with dovetails. Finished with a hard wax oil.

Tis’ the season to make things out of cedar and teak 🌦️🪵☔️💪

If you're planning an outdoor project using wood, it's important to choose the right type of wood that can withstand the elements and resist decay and rot. Not all woods are equal in terms of durability and resistance.
Some of the best options for outdoor projects include cedar, redwood, cypress and many exotic species. These woods have natural properties that make them resistant to decay and insect damage.
On the other hand, woods such as spruce and pine (think construction 2X4’s) are less resistant to moisture and insects, and they require more maintenance to stay in good condition.
Don't assume that all woods are equal, and be sure to consider factors such as durability and resistance when making your selection. With the right wood, you can ensure that your outdoor project will look great and last for years to come.

This “Free Little Library” requested by a client is complete and should soon be in service to give and receive used books. Built to withstand its life outside with cedar frame, trim, and roof as well as outdoor rated 3/4” ply. Weather sealed to keep books dry inside and a teak oil finish to add additional resistance to the elements.

If you have seen these out in the community and have used books just lying around, consider contributing or check out a new book that others have given.
