The Tomko family has known and loved Ray (and his family) for over 40 years and he was always the same guy - quirky smile, biting (but not mean) humor, and a big heart. He adapted to life’s challenges as elegantly as anyone we’ve ever known - whether it was in Trenton growing up in a generation that didn’t understand the power of the rainbow or it was chillin’ in Surf City, his adopted home, as a “local character” working at Anchor Liquors. Irish Whiskey

Inspired by the historic Blackpitts area in the Liberties, Dublin, this Peated Single Malt uses smoke from peat to dry the barley during the malting process, resulting in a distinctive smokey taste profile.

However, what makes Teeling Blackpitts so unique is the triple distillation process, which reduces some of the medicinal character you would get from a traditional Scottish Peated Single Malt and allows the more barbeque smoke characteristic to shine. This is then combined with signature Teeling innovative cask maturation using both ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes white wine casks, which is bottled at 46% with no chill filtration to produce a truly different and unique expression of Teeling and Irish Whiskey. The inspiration for the use of these casks came from a previous bottling of Teeling 24-Year-Old Single Malt which was honoured as the “World’s Best Single Malt” in 2019 at the World Whiskies Awards.

Blue Run Spirits
Reflection 1 Bourbon

Blue Run Reflection 1 is a gentle and subtle sipping bourbon, a characteristic the company has made a name for themselves on. They’ve proven their ability to blend, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have ex-Four Roses master distiller Jim Rutledge working for them now.

Reflection 1 opens with an enjoyable nose thanks to its apricot, fresh flowers, honey, and french toast scents. It smells like spring in a glass and is a refreshing start to the whiskey. The palate follows with swirls of delicious marmalade, cinnamon, and fried dough. Though sweet, the palate never goes overboard with it. The finish is contrastingly spicy, throwing heavy amounts of rye spice and marzipan before introducing spicy leather. This whiskey benefits the most from slow sipping and reflection, much like its name implies. As a whole, it doesn’t quite come together, but if you take the time to access each part of it individually, you'll find something to appreciate.
