We are tilting into our Americana vibes a bit early this year, as we take an extended month of June into July to celebrate America 250, you’ll see our beautiful bunting and flower boxes positioned all over to give our building a nice splash of red, white and blue!

We hope you all stop on by and not only come in to shop but also just take a moment to see what we have in our windows. We are showcasing all things red, white and blue! We are also showcasing a few things that make us who we are, including vintage check-writing and label making machines, and a Royal typewriter.

As you may have seen, we are no longer carrying shoes at this point. But don’t fret! We do still have a small (but mighty!) selection of summer flip flops and sandals!

Just in are sandals from the amazing , and if that’s not enough, we have a wall full of flip flops from Teva and !

As you can see, Fred the Gorilla is even an avid sandal shopper, as our associate Bill is fitting him with the perfect pair.

Today is Memorial Day, a day to remember those who fell for our country, but also a day to remember those who served us in general.
•
This is Gale Howard Shaw. He served during WWI, in the US Navy. He was the second owner of the store, for 40 years, from 1924 to 1964.
•
We remember Gale, and all those before and after him, who answered the call to serve.
•
These are letters from Howard, his father, to Gale, while he served. and some photos from the store at the time and a Burlington Free Press clipping from that time of Draftees.

This week’s throwback Thursday, as we head into a busy weekend, is a simple one, but a fascinating one!

This photo of the store in 1960 showcases what was then a new sign (that many may remember) as well as not just one, but TWO gas pumps, from back we we sold gas in town.
•
One pump is right at the curb, the other is actually up on the porch, right near a doorway we used to have from the store to the porch.
•
