Today, let’s talk about sledding! We know, it’s June, rainy and warm. But that’s okay! We have a very cool piece of history here.

In 1981, Alan Alda directed and starred in the movie The Four Seasons. He filmed winter scenes right here in Stowe! Scenes were shot at Stowehof, in town and in town, a special prop was used. A sled with “H.E. Shaw Stowe VT” painted on it. Alan is seen laying on this sled after a skiing mishap.

We love that we have this piece of movie history and that our stores name made it to Hollywood!!

Another angle for Throwback Thursday!

It may be humid and sunny now, but when it’s warm out, we think of winter! This shot from the late 1960s brings us back to a time when we had just about transitioned out of selling groceries to focus fully on our Ski Shop, bicycle repair and sales, shoes/boots and some of the nicer clothing we still sell today!

Fun fact! That red white and blue Gerry jacket sign to the left of our front door is still in the store, visible to all! Let us know if you know where it is, later we’ll post a photo of it to our story 😄
