PERMANENT SNOW DAY: CARAVAN’S CLOSING!

We will be closing our doors officially at the end of the day on Thursday, December 5th. Please come on out for a final visit to the space and grab a cocktail or some special spirit sips before it’s all over.

We’ve been working our tails off for the last five years and have decided to step away from Caravan to give more time to ourselves, each other and our kids. It’s been an absolute thrill to collaborate with so many wonderful people and businesses here in Stevens Point.

And most importantly, Caravan has been possible because of the customers that supported it! So many people were excited to try something new and be adventurous with their beverage choices. This allowed us to provide wine/beer/spirits that you might not otherwise be able to find.

Some people think a shop like Caravan should be in a bigger city. Well, it should. And! It should also be in a place like Stevens Point. Curiosity and creativity exists in everybody and we were lucky enough to encounter it on a daily basis. We will miss all of you.

Our shelves are pretty bare, but we’ve got some drinks to pour behind the bar. So, come on by for a final visit.

HOW TO REMEMBER WHAT YOU FORGOT:

1. Brew a strong cup of piping hot coffee.
2. Put on some music you’ve never heard before.
3. Sweep the floor.
4. Pour coffee.
5. Add booze.
6. Top with whip cream.
7. Turn up music.

Spiked coffees all the time!

Add rum, bourbon or rye and top with homemade whipped cream. For you polar bears out there, we do have cold brew as well if you need an iced cup of cold Joe.

EXTRA EXTRA: BIG BOTTLE BY THE GLASS

It’s time to have plenty of wine on hand. So, we decided to open one of our magnum bottles of the 2018 Batic Merlot from the Vipava Valley in Slovenia.

Made by the Batic Family, their wines are all grown and produced using biodynamic practices and minimal sulfite additions. This is a family that’s been making wine here in Slovenia for the last four hundred years. Yes. I did say 400 years!!

So, if you need a slow sip of the good stuff, grab a friend and come contemplate the state of the cosmos while swirling them around your glass.

A magnum is 1500 liters. So, we’ve got about 10 glasses to pour for well below restaurant pricing.

While this may sound like a high-brow night of stiff spine all-ears, it’s actually a relaxed environment where one need not even stay in their chair. You can get a three-glass wine flight to pair with the sides, you can sip some absinthe or punch, deep dive into a glass of whiskey, or just take it easy with your trusty water bottle. No judgements!

Bring records to swap or to sell! We already have several committed vendors with tables to be filled with Vinyl for you to browse! DJ Brad will be spinning records as well. If you’ve also got some records you want to swap or sell, bring them by and hang out with us this Sunday. Got records already and just want some more? Well, you can come too!

Behind the bar we will have a giant pot of hot coffee, and all the fixings for making Jamaican Coffee and other treats like Mezcal Grasshoppers, Absinthe, Boozy Punch and those old classics like Wine & Beer.

Hang Out & Geek Out. Vinyl will save us all.

MISTAKES WERE MADE: A LIVE PIANO BAR AND STORYTELLING WITH CLANCY CRAMER

Thelonious Monk once said, “If you play a wrong note in jazz, play it again so people think you did it on purpose.” Clancy Cramer, local jack of all trades, will be accompanying some storytellers who will be telling tales of glorious mishaps.

We’ve all made mistakes, and that’s okay. But don’t make another by missing this show. The Lounge will be in full relax mode: chairs, tables, dimmed lights, bitter amaro to sweet moscato, powerful punch to fizzy pear cider, and always, always, Absinthe.

Expect a night filled with a mix of mingling and listening, sipping and softening your heart to understand that mistakes were made and listening to Clancy on tue piano can make it all better.

I don’t know what I am, usually. But, when I’m drinking Lambrusco, I know exactly what/who/how and why I am. It all comes down to fill in the blank.

In partnership with Daisy Lounge and Great Northern Distilling, we will present different Phantasea cocktails for you to enjoy over the coming week and weekend. Come and check out each location for unique and beautiful concoctions. Make your own Phantasea crawl and hit up all three spots in an evening!

At Caravan, we will have a different cocktail each day, from Thursday-Sunday. We will also have newly updated decks of cocktail & character cards available for sale. Each deck contains recipe cards with hand drawn characters and images by . They are beautiful! Keep an eye on our stories for updates and images, or just come check them out.

MORNING QUESTIONS: AFTERNOON ANSWERS

We don’t always have to have full-throttle ambition. Sometimes we need to rest, or just simply take a break. And what that looks like is different for everybody. When I drank this beer and ate the chips, I was focused , studying, visioning, working. It was a perfect session of productivity. Then, I took a break and swept the floor.
