Summer sturgeon fishing on the Wisconsin River is 95% kicking back on the pontoon, and 5% hanging on for dear life.

There is no other bite like this in the Midwest. You can be sitting there eating lunch, and two minutes later you are hooked into a 50+ inch prehistoric tank that fights like a submerged log swimming upstream. When a school moves through, doubles and triples are a very real possibility, and it turns into absolute chaos on the deck.

If you want to experience the heaviest freshwater fight you can find, the pontoon is fully rigged and running. Stop by the shop for a pint, or shoot us a message to lock in your trip!

Had an awesome time out on the Wisconsin River a couple weeks back fishing with NB Edits!

The muskies were fired up, and we managed to get this thick 45.25" giant in the boat. We were dodging the summer heat, tagging a couple of natural reproduction muskies for the DNR, and even had a close call almost running out of gas out there. Huge shoutout to Mama Wojo for the emergency fuel delivery on the water!

To every dad who ever tied a knot, baited a hook, or netted a monster: this weekend is yours.

We still love this old photo of when Taps & Tackle Co. just started. Angling is a tradition built on patience, knowledge, and connection.

We made history on the Wisconsin River with John Gillespie’s Waters & Woods.

For the first time ever, Wisconsin has a summer hook-and-line catch and release sturgeon season, and we had the crew out to show them exactly what this fishery is capable of. 15+ sturgeon in two hours. Doubles. Triples. And a 56-inch prehistoric giant to cap it off.

We have the pontoon fleet fully running and dates are booking up fast for these sturgeon trips.

Huge shoutout to all our clients from this past weekend!

Matt was busy and put on an absolute clinic, boating multiple personal bests including walleyes, a sturgeon, and a musky. The river was firing on all cylinders.

Jozef found the right window, after raising multiple fish and his clients put a beautiful 39" musky in the net to cap off the weekend. The early summer patterns are officially locking in.

If your weekend didn't produce the same results, it’s time to re-tool. Doors are open, and the taps are pouring cold. Come grab a stool and let’s talk about summer river fishing!

ATTENTION WISCONSIN MUSKY ANGLERS!

Looking to chase the fish of ten thousand casts this summer?

The Wisconsin League of Musky Anglers (WILMA) is officially kicking off, and sign-ups are happening TONIGHT!

Whether you’re a seasoned river rat or looking to hone your musky game, this is the league for you.
Here are the quick details:
• Cost: $50 sign-up fee
• Where to fish: Any stretch of the Wisconsin River from Lake Wausau through Petenwell Flowage.
• When: Runs from the Tuesday after Memorial Day through the Tuesday after Labor Day (League nights: Tues-Wed-Thurs 4-9pm).

• HOW TO JOIN: Come down to Taps and Tackle TONIGHT from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM to get more info, meet the crew, and lock in your spot. You can fish with a partner or yourself.

League is signed up individually. Sign ups can also happen at ANYTIME throughout the year. If you cannot make it tonight, just let us know.

What an absolute BANGER of an opening weekend!

The Muskies were moving and the Fort Knox custom color from Taps and Tackle and Musky Innovations was the undisputed MVP of the boat. We put three solid fish in the net, but the real story was in the tags.

Science meets sport: 2 out of our 3 fish were already tagged, and the data is mind-blowing!

The 36 Recap: Jozef netted a 36-incher that was originally tagged by Jb and Jozef back in June of 2025. It is awesome to see these fish healthy, growing, and staying local in the river.

The Marathon 44: This one blew our minds. We landed a 44-inch tank (Tag # ending in 27) that was originally tagged by another angler way up in Lake DuBay in 2024. This fish made the massive journey all the way down to Plover by last weekend. That is a giant move for a musky!

The Fort Knox Swimmin Dawg is officially the hot ticket for the river right now. If you want to put numbers in the boat like we did this weekend, you need this custom Taps and Tackle color in your box.
