Well, bulldog family and friends… after four years, thousands of bottles, a questionable number of life choices witnessed at the register, and enough stories to fill several therapy sessions, today is officially my last day at Bulldog Liquor. 🥃🖤 And honestly, I didn't expect leaving a liquor store to hit me in the damn feelings like this.
When I started four years ago, I had no idea how many incredible people I would meet, how many friendships I would build, or how many customers would go from familiar faces to people I genuinely care about. Somewhere between the bottles, the laughs, the chaos, the long days, and the occasional "what in the actual hell is happening right now 😳" moments, this place became a whole lot more than a job.
Some of you came in for a bottle and left after giving me a life update. Some came in just to talk. Some came in just for a hug. Some made me laugh when I desperately needed it. And some of you probably know more about my life than a licensed therapist should legally be allowed to know. 😂🤫🫣
The truth is, people can make a place special, and the people I've met here have done exactly that. 🫶 I've made connections I never expected, friendships I'm grateful for, and memories I'll carry with me long after I clock out today.
To my coworkers, my regulars, my friends, and every person who made these four years memorable: thank you! Thank you for the laughs, the conversations, the kindness, the support, and for making even the hardest days a little easier. You reminded me that sometimes the best part of a job has absolutely nothing to do with the job itself.
I'm not going to pretend I'm not sad. Change is weird, goodbyes suck, and apparently I'm emotionally attached to a place where people buy alcohol to cope with life. The irony is not lost on me. 😂🖤 But I'm leaving with a full heart, a head full of memories, and enough stories that I'll be keeping a few therapists employed for years to come. (Thanks for all of those!!) And probably enough material for a very inappropriate memoir. (I'll change your names 😉🤣)
Bulldog Liquor will always be a chapter of my life I'll be grateful for, but the people I've met along the way? Those are the parts I'll miss the most.
So, if you see me out there, stop and say hello. Give me a hug, tell me a story, make me laugh, or remind me why I should never be allowed to write that memoir. 😂
Thank you for being part of my four years. You made this chapter mean more to me than I can properly put into words.
Now excuse me while I go pretend I'm fine, because apparently four years of saying, “Hey sugar! What y'all looking for today? And Y'all have a good one!” doesn't prepare you for actually having to say goodbye.
Love y'all. Thank you for everything. And please, for the love of all things holy, don't make me cry at work on my last damn day. 🖤🥃
