Update from Basco Travel Plaza

We want to keep our community informed about the damage caused by the storm that hit on May 17, 2026. While we were fortunate to get the roof patched quickly, the interior of our building sustained significant water damage. Repairs will involve replacing and inspecting insulation, drywall, electrical systems, HVAC, and more—a process that will take some time.

We also see this as an opportunity to make some thoughtful improvements to Basco. The building will undergo a slight remodel to better suit our needs and serve our customers, including expanded convenience store offerings, enhanced bar areas, and other upgrades to improve your experience.

As Spencer’s only locally owned and operated gas station, this is a challenging period for us, and we deeply appreciate the understanding and support from our customers and neighbors. Your continued encouragement means a great deal as we work to fully restore and improve Basco Travel Plaza.

🌪️ BASCO is Back—Partially! 🌪️

Thanks to some incredible contractors who worked around the clock, we’re up and running again just 48 hours after Sunday’s storm! Here’s what’s available right now:

⛽ Gas & diesel pumps – fully operational
🚛 Truck wash – open
🚗 Self serve car wash – open
🅿️ Back lot – open for truck parking
🥤 Snacks & beverages – available on a limited basis

⚠️ Closed for now: automatic car wash, coffee shop, bar, and indoor bathrooms. We do have portable restrooms

Starting Wednesday, we will be staffed to pre-pay fuel, sell snacks and drinks from 7am - 10 pm daily! Unmanned after 10 pm but pumps and washes still available 24/7.

Please bear with us as we rebuild inside. Every ceiling, wall, insulation, flooring, and cabinetry suffered water damage, so we’ll be operating this way for the foreseeable future.

Due to extensive storm damage and unsafe electrical conditions, BASCO Travel Plaza will be closed for the foreseeable future. Thank you to all the volunteers that are already helping clean up! We have construction crews and electricians on the way to start rebuilding.
