During our recent edition of the Sidney Sun-Telegraph, we listed construction for a Sidney street improvement project beginning on May 25. However, we received updated information after the paper was already set that says construction will begin on June 1. Sorry for any confusion!

Sidney’s Wal-Mart was evacuated earlier this afternoon after a threatening call was made to the store, according to city manager Josh Hanson, who was acting as city public information officer at the time. He said there were no casualties or injuries and he expects the closure to last through the night.
Officials ask that locals keep their distance from the building in the mean time.

Hello everyone, this is Adrienne with the Sidney Sun-Telegraph again. I'm pleased to report that as of today, I am no longer the only one in the office (our new office at 841 Illinois Street) to take calls and answer questions. Kristine Barnett has been hired as our new office manager on a part-time basis. She will be present in the office from 9 am - 2 pm, Monday through Friday. You might catch me if you call outside those hours, but these are the times I can guarantee now that someone will be there.
Please have patience with Kristine as she learns the ropes of this new job, and offer a good welcome if you drop by and see her.
Thank you, everyone, for your love and support during this time.

Listen, primary elections are confusing for some folks.

Think of it like the early rounds of a tournament. Each party has its own bracket. When a party has multiple people running for the same seat, those candidates have to compete against each other first. The primary narrows that field down to one finalist per party, and those finalists move on to the “championship game” — the General Election in November.

So, here's the races that will be DECIDED at the Primary Election on May 12th, 2026, and only one candidate will advance:

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their support. It's been really heart-warming to see everyone responding to my previous post, whether it be with words of encouragement or offers of help. It's good to know that I am not alone, even if the office is quiet.
Second, I do want to clarify that our owners are getting me help. Someone will be coming down from our sister paper once a week to help keep front office duties manageable, and speaking of the front office, I do have further details concerning applications for those interested in the job.
For those interested in applying, this will be a part-time job with potential to become full-time. Primary duties will include booKkeeping, managing our subscriptions, and being a friendly face for customers to meet with. Those interested in applying should reach out to our owner, Alisha Carver, at [email protected] with their resumes or by calling her at (307) 351-2234. Watch out for our upcoming paper, as we will be advertising for this position there, and it might include further details.
I want to thank everyone again for their support. Today was hard in more ways than one, but it really helped me keep going every time I checked Facebook and saw all of your support. Thank you. Truly.
Sincerely,
Adrienne LaBay
P.S. Congratulations to the winners of today's E3 Youth Competition! The girls all really impressed me with their smart answers to my questions, and I'm excited to see what they do moving forward. Check out next week's paper for my full write-up on it!

Hello everyone, this is Adrienne LaBay speaking. I unfortunately have to announce that as of today, I will be the only one manning the Sidney Sun-Telegraph's office. Both Mike and Barbara have moved on to work elsewhere.
For the time being, until we can get another staff member in, I will do my best to man the office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, with an hour break for lunch at noon, but these hours will be subject to change, as my reporting duties tend to take me out of the office at strange times. If you drop by and I am not present, please come back or call back in an hour, and I'll do my best to help you.
Thank you for your patience, and I will keep everyone updated as the situation unfolds.
