Today we honor the memory of the Man, the Myth, the Legend; and the name sake of TJ’s— Truman Jennings. 🩵
25 years ago today, the world lost a gem of a human, father, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, son, boss, and friend.
If you ever got the chance to meet Truman, you knew he had an infectious love for life. The kind of warmth and silliness wrapped into the same tall package that could make you laugh and smile, even on your darkest days. His hugs were so tight, you’d feel like your back may snap— (so were his handshakes) but yet, you always wanted another one! Boy, what I wouldn’t give for one of those hugs again! 🥺
He always had a cold beer, a poker game, or a dirty joke ready for you. He loved to buy treasures and fix them up and flip them. He was handy and smart. Not only did he self teach himself how to fix anything, but he taught his daughter and grandkids to do the same. He taught them all to fish, climb trees, play jokes, and always wanted to dance with his family and friends. And so importantly— he loved his people, and he loved this town. 💚
He had a dream of creating a space, just like this. Where he could see his friends and supply them with food and endless cold beers. A place where people walked in and felt like family, because that’s who he was. Everyone was family, and everyone had a place. I think he would be so proud of the space created here in his honor, and the joy people share inside this little space.
Thank you for being part of making his dream come true. It still warms our hearts to have someone come in and share memories of him. So if you have any, we would absolutely love for you to share them 🩵🩵👇🏻
It seems unfathomable that 25 years have gone by and the world keeps turning. But knowing we’re carrying on something so important helps. So today, if you get the chance to stop in, please share some words of love about Truman, the original TJ.
