On May 7, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to Buckner Court in Sedalia in reference to a domestic disturbance.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were dispatched after receiving a report that a male subject, identified as Deon A. McGee, had broken a female victimโ€™s phone and told her she was not permitted to call police in the parking lot of the housing authority.

Upon arrival, officers could hear both McGee and the victim inside the apartment. Officers reported that McGee was shouting through a window and refusing to come outside. Officers learned that McGee had active warrants from Leeโ€™s Summit and instructed him to exit the residence.

McGee continued to refuse commands and shouted at officers. Officers asked the victim to come outside, but McGee allegedly told officers she was not going to leave either. Officers warned McGee he could be arrested for kidnapping if he prevented her from leaving. The victim reportedly remained inside and did not come out. Officers then warned McGee that if he did not exit the residence, they would break a window and enter. As an officer punched the metal grate covering a window, McGee came outside and was arrested.

Inside the apartment, officers observed a large kitchen knife on a table near the door. The victim told officers that McGee had threatened her with the knife if she attempted to leave or if police entered the residence. The victim also stated McGee pushed her, took her phone, smashed it, and prevented her from leaving under threat of being stabbed. The damaged phone was valued at approximately $500.

McGee is charged with first-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest for a felony.

Apparently, after we moved the scanner to broadcast it for everyone, we were no longer getting SPD dispatch. We have corrected that, and SPD is now for sure being broadcast.

On May 21, 2025, a grand jury returned a seven-count indictment against Antonio Marquis Frost in Pettis County, Missouri, stemming from a March 24, 2024, investigation in Sedalia involving a fatal fentanyl overdose.

According to the indictment, Frost was charged with three counts of second-degree felony murder, one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, one count of delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of maintaining a public nuisance.

Court records state the charges allege that Isaiah J. Otten died after ingesting fentanyl allegedly provided by Frost at a residence located in the 900 block of Wi******er in Sedalia. Prosecutors alleged the death occurred during the perpetration or attempted perpetration of the felony offenses of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and maintaining a public nuisance.

The indictment further alleged Frost knowingly possessed fentanyl and maintained the residence for the unlawful storage of the controlled substance.

Following the grand jury indictment on May 21, 2025, a warrant was issued for Frostโ€™s arrest. Court records indicate the warrant was served on April 21, 2026. Frost remains in custody at the Pettis County Jail. A case review hearing is scheduled for June 15, 2026.

If youโ€™re concerned that streaming dispatch traffic could place law enforcement in danger, keep in mind that agencies are fully aware of which channels are publicly streamed. They also have access to numerous non-streamed channels, along with encryption capabilities.

If you sometimes hear only part of a conversation, it is typically because the other part was encrypted. The red marks are comms which were encrypted and not picked up by us.

On May 6, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to the 1000 block of South Garfield Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. Dispatch initially advised responding officers of an โ€œunknown physical domestic disturbance,โ€ though officers were later informed the incident may have been non-physical. Following the investigation, officers determined charges related to the domestic disturbance itself were not applicable.

As an officer arrived on scene, Justin Strickland flipped them off and went back inside the house. The officer made contact with the reporting party and spoke briefly before Strickland came back out of the house, appearing visibly agitated. Strickland then walked past the officer toward a Chevrolet Silverado parked near East 10th Street. While walking toward the truck, Strickland reportedly stated the disturbance had in fact been physical in nature. The officer ordered Strickland to stop and speak with him, but Strickland ignored commands and entered the vehicle.

The officer moved near the rear driverโ€™s side of the truck and provided dispatch with the vehicleโ€™s license plate information. Strickland then started the truck, shifted the truck into reverse, and accelerated rapidly toward the officer. The officer attempted to move out of the vehicleโ€™s path but was struck by the truck. The officer issued repeated verbal commands for Strickland to stop and exit the vehicle as the truck continued across East 10th Street and into a yard north of the roadway.

The officer approached the driverโ€™s side window and struck the window with his baton, breaking the glass. Strickland was reaching out of his window, attempting to strike the officer and prevent them from arresting him. Strickland allegedly accelerated forward, traveling west on East 10th Street.

The officer advised dispatch that Strickland had attempted to ram him with the truck and was fleeing southbound on South Garfield Avenue. The officer returned to his patrol vehicle and initiated a pursuit. Near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Garfield Avenue, Strickland stopped the truck, shifted into reverse, and accelerated backward toward the patrol vehicle. The officer also attempted to reverse but was unable to avoid impact. Investigators reported the collision caused heavy damage to the front end of the patrol vehicle.

Court documents stated Strickland continued accelerating after the collision, pushing the patrol vehicle approximately 120 feet while the officer remained inside. During that encounter, the officer discharged his department-issued handgun at Strickland. Strickland then accelerated at a high rate of speed south on South Garfield and made a right-hand turn on East 16th Street. The pursuit continued until the truck stopped near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Arlington Avenue. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and ordered Strickland from the vehicle. Once officers determined Strickland was no longer a threat, medical aid was rendered until Pettis County Ambulance District personnel arrived to provide treatment.

Witnesses interviewed during the investigation reported seeing Strickland arguing with another individual before officers arrived. Witnesses further stated Strickland ignored commands to stop and accelerated the truck toward the officer. One witness told investigators the truck accelerated โ€œin a way that made her think it would not end well.โ€ Another witness reported they witnessed the officer break the driverโ€™s side window, and Strickland was โ€œtrying to hit the cop through the window.โ€

Strickland was later interviewed at the hospital after being advised of his Miranda rights. According to court documents, Strickland stated he had โ€œsnappedโ€ when the officer arrived and told him to leave. He admitted he knew the officer was positioned behind the truck when he reversed out of the parking spot. Strickland also stated he intentionally reversed into the patrol vehicle near East 16th Street and South Garfield Avenue because he believed he had โ€œto stop him and get away.โ€

The officer was later treated for injuries related to the incident and reported pain in his neck, likely from whiplash. The officer stated he was hit hard enough that it took his breath away. He also suffered from a headache and high levels of tinnitus. The officer has since been released from the hospital.

Strickland is now charged with Assault in the first degree and second, aggravated fleeing a stop or detention โ€“ causing physical injury, leaving the scene of an accident, property damage in the first degree, resisting arrest for a felony, and armed criminal action.

We are never happy to hear that coverage of local crime has resulted in someone losing their job. Everyone deserves the opportunity to work and make a living. However, in this case, we believe this is a positive outcome for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Individuals like Kristy have no business working around children or people with disabilities.

It is also concerning that the childโ€™s mother, Shawna, is employed at Four Seasons. She showed a clear lack of morals with her response to her own child confiding in her that she was being abused.

On March 24, 2026, Sedalia police officers responded to the 1600 block of Heck Ave. in reference to a physical disturbance.

The victim reported that he was driving home for his lunch break when another driver, Kaiden Jeremiah Nort, became angered after their vehicles passed closely while turning onto West Main Street from State Fair Boulevard. The victim said North followed him from the area of Main Street and State Fair Boulevard to his residence, a distance of about 2.1 miles.

After the victim arrived home, North drove into his yard, parked, and got out of the vehicle. The victim reported that North approached him while screaming and holding a hammer. The victim backed up the driveway toward his garage to keep distance. When North continued approaching, the victim struck him once in the mouth or face with a closed fist.

The victim reported that North then produced a knife and said, โ€œDo you wanna go?โ€ The victim grabbed a baseball bat that was near the garage. North then backed away and spat blood and saliva on the victimโ€™s truck before leaving the scene.

A witness who personally knew North witnessed part of the confrontation and identified him. The victim also provided the license plate of the vehicle involved. Records showed North as a regular driver of the vehicle, but not the owner.

An officer later contacted North by text message. North did not deny being involved in the disturbance and was given notice of trespass from the victimโ€™s residence, which he acknowledged.

On April 7, 2026, the victim contacted the Sedalia Police Department and said he wanted to move forward with prosecution. North is now charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and harassment in the first degree, all felonies.

On April 5, 2026, officers with the Sedalia Police Department responded to the Sedalia Police Department lobby in reference to a child abuse report.

An officer took a report from a man who stated that his juvenile daughter had been staying at a residence on North Prospect Avenue while her mother was at work. The child reported that while at that residence, she would be left alone with an adult male and that he had engaged in inappropriate conduct since she was 9 years old.

The case was assigned the following day, and on April 10, 2026, an officer attended a forensic interview. During that interview, the victim disclosed multiple incidents involving inappropriate contact by Matthew Platt, stating the conduct had occurred over a period of time, with the most recent incident occurring days prior to the initial report. The victim stated she told her mother, Shawna Spence, and another resident, Kristy White, about the inappropriate touching a few months prior, but they did not believe her. Shawna reportedly told her daughter, โ€œThatโ€™s on youโ€.

A school counselor also confirmed the victim had previously disclosed similar allegations and stated the victim had no known history of dishonesty or behavioral issues.

Further investigation revealed prior incidents involving individuals at the residence, including allegations of child abuse and a prior arrest related to assault involving a juvenile. Digital evidence obtained through a warrant also revealed concerning communications referencing Kristy disciplining a 1-year-old infant for not going to sleep.

On April 24, 2026, officers interviewed Shawna. During the interview, she acknowledged she was aware that Matthew was a registered s*x offender and that Kristy had a prior child endangerment conviction. Despite this knowledge, she continued to leave her children at the residence for supervision until shortly before the report was made.

Based on the investigation, officers requested charges of Child Endangerment in the First Degree against Shawna for knowingly allowing her children to be supervised in an environment involving individuals with histories of s*xual and physical abuse toward children.
