Dear customers,
We have been alerted by some of our customers that a Facebook post has gone viral by one of our customers. First and most importantly, our business has been open for more than 15 years. We have pumped millions of gallons throughout these years and continue to pump thousands every day. We have a great customer base that resides in our community. Throughout our years, we have never been penalized by DHEC or the department of agriculture.
In the post, the customer said that his co-worker pressed the regular multiple times and he was charged for premium. It only takes pressing one time to activate the fuel pump. Once the fuel pump is activated a light comes up on top of the grade of fuel which allows you to know what grade is being pumped and charged for. Our cashiers do not have the ability to set what type of fuel or fuel grade the pump actually dispenses. That is up to the customer. Our employee acted properly, he went out with the customer and looked at his receipt and showed him that he purchased premium. The customer wanted to speak with the owner, who was not there and was trying to understand the incident. The customer was understandably frustrated and did not give the owner (Mr. George) an opportunity to explain what might have gone wrong.
Several comments were made in regards to the higher price of premium. During the summer months of the year, we sometimes purchase non-ethanol 100% gasoline with 93 octane which is significantly more expensive that regular 93. This fuel is used for boat motors, lawnmowers, and motorcycles, which are primarily used in the summer months. This explains the higher than average price spread between regular and premium fuel.
As a small family business that began in 2007, we were able to grow and renovate by the support and love of our customers and community members. Many customers have become a part of the family and have seen our business go through many hurricanes and even a pandemic. We are only able to do this because of our fantastic customers that come to see us time and time again. We are deeply saddened by this customer’s dissatisfaction and always strive for an open dialogue with our customers. We encourage all of our customers to help us better serve them and the community. We hope that this customer’s post does not color your views of our store and our hardworking staff.
