Hi there! I’ve missed you
I’ve spent the time off trying to wrap my brain around a few things
I have a few plans and I’d love to hear your thoughts, but first…
Tomorrow is the first day of Plastic Free July which if you didn’t know, it’s a month long national challenge to reduce single use plastics in your life. To help incentivize this change, I’ll be at The Blue every Saturday [6th, 13th, 20th, 27th] 2 pm - 5 pm for refills & offering 10% off everything. Yup, everything
Consider it a 1-year anniversary gift from me to you and your continually support 💙🦢🎟️🫶🏾🎉🎁
However, I’m really tuning in today because I’ve been thinking about accessibility a lot in the sustainability space. There’s a big disconnect between BIPOC folks being the most affected by environmental injustices (household products aiding in health harm (we’ll get into this another time)) but the least likely to afford sustainable alternatives.
Now, there’s a very valid reason why products are priced the way they are (the true cost of doing things correctly), but I can’t help but feel like there’s more to do for my community to help make sustainable alternatives more equitable and accessible.
I have a few ideas, but before I implement them, I’d love to know your thoughts. Please comment, dm, email, come and hang on Saturday… whatever feels right to let me know
My wishlist is for BIPOC to take up more space in every category, but especially this one.
With love,
Tanesia
