There's nothing quite like a Sanibel sunrise or sunset. Whether it's the first light breaking over the island or the sun dipping below the Gulf in a blaze of color, these moments remind us why we love this place so much.

This week, we invite you to share your favorite Sanibel sunrise or sunset photo and tell us what makes that moment special to you. Our first photo is from Erik Entwistle.

-A great place to watch sunrise/sunsets is "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge, Tarpon Bay Explorers Inc. or SCCF's trails.

The 2nd Annual “Doc Ford’s National Yucatan Shrimp Day 7K” on Sanibel Island this week drew a fantastic crowd, raising crucial funds for the Ding Darling Wildlife Society. ☀️ This community event even featured a wonderful show of local support, with the Sanibel Island Police Department helping out by handing out much-needed water to thirsty runners along the course. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this great cause! ☀️

THANK YOU to everyone who has labored over these crochet nests! We have received countless beautiful donations from supporters across the country, and even internationally! 🤯 🙌 Our whole team has been amazed by the immense and rapid outpouring of support! 💚

That being said, we are AT CAPACITY for nests! 🐣

If you have nests or are in the middle of making more, don’t worry! There are hundreds of wildlife rehabbers across the country that care for baby animals — it’s Baby Season everywhere, not just at CROW! Please consider contacting them and offering your lovely, cozy creations.

“Love Sanibel Back” 🔆❤️🔆 is a wonderful reminder of the strong community bonds that exist today on Sanibel Island and the shared commitment to supporting one another and our island home. Local businesses will be spotlighted from June 1st - Aug. 9th. Look for updates soon with the official dates that The Grog Shop will be featured as part of this community-wide initiative organized by Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Sanibel.🔆
