The Cigar Vault and Hill Country Humidor lost a dear friend and family member this week. Gene Hooper followed the smoke and joined the angels on Wednesday. Gene was a very generous person, volunteering countless hours to so many worthy causes. Gene was a volunteer with the Hays County and Martindale VFD and EMS Gene also dedicated countless hours to disabled Veteran's causes and was a Navy Veteran him self. Gene was instrumental in the transition from the HillCountry Humidor to The Cigar Vault working for several months moving, cleaning and building to keep the tradition alive at 122 N LBJ. Gene Hooper was selfless and a true volunteer in every sense of the word.

Gene you will be so greatly missed! We hope you are fishing and enjoying a cigar up there. Safe travels Gene! 🌊

FOR SALE! You could use this piece to display anything - jewelry, sculptures, paintings, any creation you want to showcase. This beautifully crafted, custom made Coffee Bean Table was used for 25 years to display jars of fresh roasted beans, bagged whole beans and ground coffee. Rob had 50-60 jars displayed on it back in the day. Must see in person to fully appreciate. No nails used in the construction. Table must be picked up this week at 122 N. LBJ Drive in San Marcos. In the words of my beloved, S.L. "Rob" Robinson, "KEEP THE CHEESE -- LET ME OUT OF THE TRAP!
As I close this chapter of the best little pipe and cigar shop in the hill country I'm reminded of friends along the way.
I will post photos from the past 35 years, some from below the Hungry Stick where we started, then to the Simon Bakery Bldg (both locations were downtown on Hopkins St.,) and finally a move to 122 N. LBJ, On the Square.
Much love to those who shopped with us, challenged, and supported us. I'm moving our area of operations out of this town with plans for reopening in the future at a wonderful place that's made especially for you to relax and enjoy your smokes, pipes, and ci**rs (with parking.)
Meanwhile, welcome your NEW local pipe & cigar store...The Cigar Vault!
The new owner is Jeff, a super nice guy that's real easy to talk to. This location will continue to offer great pipes, fresh to***cos & ci**rs with a nice place to shop and hang out.
The new shop will reopen in mid June.
