Who’s ready for some Argentinian wines? 🙋
New-wave Mendoza winemaker Matías Ricitelli is making some of the most exciting wines to come out of Argentina in years. We’re so lucky to be welcoming him to the mezzanine on Monday, August 18 for a tasting and masterclass on his Mendoza terroirs. Tickets in bio!
About Matías:
Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayate, Salta, a charming village in northern Argentina where wine is lived and breathed. A tireless traveler and dreamer, Matías trained as a winemaker in one of Argentina’s most prestigious wineries. After traveling the world through multiple harvests, gaining experience and anecdotes, he decided to blend everything he learned throughout his career with the teachings of his mentor and father, Jorge Riccitelli. Thus, in 2009, Riccitelli Wines was born. The winery is located in Las Compuertas, in the highest area of the traditional Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, at 1,100 meters above sea level.
Our vineyards, situated in Mendoza’s best terroirs, include 20 hectares of old ungrafted vines in Las Compuertas, where Malbec takes center stage. In Gualtallary, in Monasterio area at 1,400 m.a.s.l., we cultivate 20 hectares through mountain viticulture, with unique soils and exposures that reveal the extraordinary potential of Argentina’s most prestigious IG (Geographical Indication). Situated at one of the highest altitudes in the Uco Valley, in the Los Chacayes IG, we have 8 hectares, while in the San Pablo IG we own 10 hectares. “Viñas Extremas” line reflects these exceptional vineyards, all located above 1,500 m.a.s.l. In Valle de La Carrera, together with the Bombal family, we developed a project specializing in short-cycle white and red varieties, such as Pinot Noir. This region, at 1,700 m.a.s.l., is the coldest in the Uco Valley, ideal for producing great cool-climate wines.
