A gorgeous debut from Bay Area legend Dave Mclean's new project .splendor.beer Of course, he brewed a classic English-style ESB, and of course he nailed it on the first go. Boy do we miss his beers from the OG days. No one else comes close to executing these styles as well as Dave. If ya know, we don't have to explain any further.
Super smooth and rich with character from local grain from but oh so easy to drink several pints of. A true beer lover's beer! We just tapped it, so come on down and enjoy one with us.

💔 A Heartfelt Farewell to Our Beloved Bar Family 💔

After 12 incredible years, we’re writing with heavy hearts to share that we are closing the doors to The Beer Hall @ 1 Polk for good this August.

When we opened in 2013, our dream was to create a warm, welcoming space - a cornerstone for our community. And for years, that dream thrived. We were open every day until midnight, pouring great beer, sharing laughs, hosting events, and connecting with neighbors who became friends and family. For seven years, our business grew and blossomed.

But the last five years have been incredibly challenging. Like so many small businesses in San Francisco, we were hit hard by COVID. Our Mid-Market neighborhood hasn’t bounced back the way we hoped. Companies abandoned their office spaces, apartments experienced a mass exodus of residents, and foot traffic became a fraction of what it used to be. The cost of doing business has also skyrocketed. We scaled back to survive but those efforts only delayed the inevitable.

We’ve watched wave after wave of neighboring businesses come and go—at least three full cycles in our time here. And now we are finding ourselves in the same predicament.

If you didn’t already know… Wondrous is brewing some amazing stuff on the other side of the Bay in Emeryville 🌁. Their passion for pristine lagers 🍻 and immaculate IPAs 🍺 couldn’t be higher! They make small batches that sell out quickly ⏳ - so we’ve only got 5.2 gallon kegs of each style- and they’ll go fast! 🏃‍♂️💨

We’re also welcoming back the wonderful folks from KXSF 📻 to set up turntables 🎛️, a mixer 🎚️, and plug right into our sound system to spin whatever matches their whim. 💫

We’re thrilled to feature Russian River Brewing Company this Thursday, the 22nd, at Mason Street! 🍻 🥳 🎉

On tap, we’ll be pouring their 2025 World Beer Cup winners: STS Pilsner (Gold Medal)🏅 and Damnation (Silver Medal)🥈. We’ll also be featuring four barrel-aged sours - Temptation, Supplication, Consecration, and Propitiation - the iconic Pliny the Elder, and their latest RnD IPA #68, brewed with two new experimental hop varieties 🥬 🥦

The event goes from 3:00pm to 10:00pm and is open to all, just pay as you go. We’ll have representatives from Russian River on hand to answer questions. Come party with us and celebrate one of the most iconic breweries on the planet!

Happening at 34 Mason Street

This Saturday, April 26th, we’re celebrating Bay Area brewing legend Arne Johnson. Since the early 90’s, Arne taught countless talented brewers in the Bay Area during his time with Marin and Moylan’s brewing companies. As Marin and Moylan’s wind down operations at the end of April, we had to show our respect to one of the Bay’s most legendary beer makers (which is saying a lot, as there are many legends in our region). Please come out and raise a glass to celebrate the incredible legacy of Arne Johnson. We love you, Arne Dawg!

We have a phunky treat for you tomorrow going down at The Beer Hall 34 Mason. As Phish make their way to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium this Wednesday, we’re throwing a pre-show celebration with the phine pholks from Urban Roots and Firestone Walker. The legends Matt Brynildson and Peter Hoey will be hanging out, and they brought some really cool beers for you to enjoy.

The event is free for all to attend. Just show up and pay as you go. The fun starts at 3:00 pm!
