Azizam Wines is a natural wine project by Maryam Hariri, based in Baja California and inspired by her Persian heritage. Using dry-farmed, climate-resilient grapes like Mission and Palomino, Maryam employs ancient techniques—like hand destemming and fermentation in traditional vessels—to create expressive, low-intervention wines that honor both land and legacy.
Currently at Tahona:
🍊 Zamboor: A skin-contact rosé made from 85% Mission and 15% Grenache Blanc, sourced from coastal Valle de Grulla and San Vicente. The grapes undergo a 10-day whole-cluster carbonic maceration and spontaneous fermentation in concrete lagars. This vibrant wine bursts with notes of sun-ripened strawberries, orange peel, and wild herbs, balanced by bright acidity and a refreshing texture.
🍓 Zameen: A light red field blend from a 100-year-old wildbush vineyard in Tecate, featuring Palomino, Rosa del Peru, and Misión grapes. The wine undergoes a 12-day whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, resulting in a fresh and expressive profile that reflects its unique terroir.
Both wines exemplify Azizam’s commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage, and the production of soulful, natural wines.
