hills i will to die on as a wine shop founder who thinks most wine culture is fake:

1. theory only gets you so far
2. you don’t need to be a somm to have good taste
3. a can on my tailgate with an ocean view beats corkage and bad service at a wine bar, every time
4. bars & restaurants offer half pours
5. drinking less made my palate better, not worse
6. heavy glass doesn’t make wine feel luxe, it just makes it a pain to carry anywhere fun

for the longest time I thought my options were finish the bottle or waste it.

turns out there’s a third one.

cans mean you open exactly what you’re drinking tonight. no bottle staring at you half-empty on the counter for a week, no pouring the rest down the sink out of guilt.

drink one. save the rest for next time. it’s not that deep.
