Finck Cigar Company has a been blessed with a history of incredible employees. Today's spotlight: Emilio Romero. He worked for Finck Cigar Company starting in 1966 as the production manager, though he had been working in cigar factories since he started at his first factory in Cuba when he was just 8 years old.
Bill Finck Jr. had this to say about him: "I had the incredible opportunity to work side by side with him when I first came into the business full-time in 1984. He taught me so much about making ci**rs, and instilled a lot of his passion in me. But what I didn’t realize until many years later was that he taught me about life. At the time, I thought the stories he told me were just interesting and entertaining. But what I eventually came to know is that he was teaching me about life."
Bill's wife, Donna, gave him a framed picture of Emilio not long after he passed away. She put a caption on the picture – “Things I learned from Emilio”. It says:
“Do what you said you would do. It’s that simple.
Do it the right way, don’t take shortcuts.
And be honest”.
At the bottom is a quote from Proverbs: “A friend loves at all times”.
It is people like Emilio that make the history of Finck Cigar Company what it is, and we are forever grateful for our people.
