Sunday, October 23rd 1983, Beirut, Lebanon
THEY CAME IN PEACE.

It’s hard to believe that it has been 43 years since the cowardly attack on the Marine Corps barracks by Islamic Terrorists that killed 241 American Service Members.
220 Marines, 17 Sailors and 3 Soldiers all perished on that fateful morning. Another 128 US personnel were injured in the blast, 13 of which subsequently died from their injuries.

Let their sacrifice for peace and freedom not be in vain, REMEMBER them and send a prayer up for them and their surviving family members.

I had just graduated from AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and had returned to my home unit when we heard the news. Rumors quickly spread that we could be “called up” at any moment “in support” but that never happened. In fact, not much ever really happened afterwards as it turned into a political BS thing and we all know how those go.
