Please read, I know it’s long-
Today, our community is a little safer. John Headden a repeat offender was arrested. I want to thank the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and a few in particular for going above and beyond in making this situation right quickly.
First, I want to tell you the importance of our Community Action Team (C.A.T.) officers. They are not just around to enforce the law, but are also there to ensure those in the community understand services and are ok after a situation. If you don’t know yours, get to know them. Stacy Harris is ours in Russellville. From right after our incident occurring until after the arrest he came by and advocated for the Sheriff’s office. He truly went above and beyond for our community. This was followed by Detective Frost. As a Military Veteran he is one of the most respectable officers I have spoken to in a long time. He was precise, acted quickly, was very courteous to our staff member while ensured the process was completed accurately and quickly. We need more men like him in law enforcement. This group at the Sheriffs Department acted together for our community to do the right thing in 4 days time.
We would also like to tell you the respect Judge Prioleau gave to both the victim and the accused in the courtroom in deciding their bond. He made a good decision for the community as he has many other unknown victims.
Now for the most important part. If you ever feel uneasy in someone’s presence don’t hesitate to call someone, even 911. We do have text enabled 911 in Berkeley County. Your gut is accurate.
If you own tools, record your serial numbers, every rechargeable battery has one along with most rechargeable tools, bicycles, trailers and other equipment. Rechargeable (drill) batteries are a hot item to pawn. Keeping a list of serial numbers can help you recover your items.
Photograph your belongings not just because of theft, but also as proof for insurance reimbursement. Your apple cloud drive is a game changer.
Pay attention to what you leave outside. This gentleman prayed on the small items left outside residences. If you are missing something, an officer doesn’t have to come out, the Duty Officer can assist you over the phone. If the Sheriff’s office doesn’t know crimes are occurring in your community, they can’t fix the problem.
Last, if you are unsure of something with the Sheriff’s Department your CAT officer can make the world of difference. Be patient, reach out he/she can help solve your problem.
God answers prayers! We are thankful for all the help the community provided and for the safety of our employee.
