Gerald is the owner of this 80% scale FW190. He is in the San Antonio area. It needs some reworking of the retraction system and he wants to re-engine with MP14.

After the busyness of the elections and holidays I am getting g focused on the ButcherBird.

I am mapping out goals for KOSH this year.
Fuselage with bulkheads and longerons
Firewall with engin mounting structure
Center Spar and rear spar
Prototype working landing gear system
Prototype working instrument panel

5 months……aggressive.

It’s a work in progress. Look for a gallery, video links, and other info as we build out the website.

ButcherBird 58% update for 2024. We are full speed ahead for AirVenture 2024. Full airworthy fuselage will be completed by end of May. Spars, retract system and landing gear are being worked out in CAD. Hardware is largely available except for newly designed specific parts.

I was shocked at the room in the monocoque FW190 that is ButcherBird. My WAR FW190 has the wood structure and is very tight. I am 5’10” and my head just touches the canopy in the WAR. This is bc the seat is a flat piece of wood and is placed within the box frame.

The monocoque build adds 1 1/2” depth due to removing the wood floor. Adding a contoured seat gives much more headroom. I believe a 6’1” pilot will be very comfortable.

There are two canopy types that FWs used during WW2. Mine is the more common. Later in the war they added a ballooned canopy that gave better visibility.
