We are open until December 31st. Please stop in to see us. Thank you all for the kind words.
Vic & Whit's, a local landmark established in 1972, has announced that they will close their doors on Dec. 31, 2024.
Owners Mark and Beth Johnston moved the business from Beach Street to its current Main Street location in 1975. For more than 50 years, Vic & Whit's has been a hub for locals to pick up a hot sandwich, get the perfect wine recommendation, or just talk about what's going on around town. Mark and Beth were recognized by Mayor Jodi MacPhail and Economic Development Director Tracey Desjardins at this week's City Council meeting.
"With a physical location in the middle of downtown S**o and owners who are, to this day, still a very active part of our community, Vic & Whit's has been the spot to discuss local politics," said Mayor Macphail. "With a former mayor and current school board member as owners, Mark and Beth have always been ready to talk about issues in their community."
Mark has held many elected or appointed roles in S**o spanning decades, including terms as Mayor from 1989-1997, 2003-2007, and 2011-2013. Beth is also a dedicated public servant with 20 years of experience on the S**o School Board. Their sons are also active in the S**o community with one owning a local business and another serving as the ward 7 city councilor.
We extend deep gratitude to Mark and Beth for their more than five decades of operating a family business, which has been cherished by generations of S**o residents, and for their commitment to shaping a bright future for our city.
