Businesses, community organizations and other groups, as well as families and individuals, can be part of the year’s highlight event on Independence Day as Roswell celebrates America’s 250th anniversary.
America 250 Roswell is looking for volunteers to host various booths and other fun offerings as Roswell takes part in the nationwide Fourth of July Great American Block Party. The local event will be at Cielo Grande Recreation Area (1612 W. College Blvd.) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will also be livestreamed on the City of Roswell YouTube channel.
Plans include games and other activities, booths offering kids crafts and face painting, and the opportunity for businesses to offer samples and giveaways. Roswell’s contribution to the biggest birthday party in America also plans to include food and music as the community comes together at this one-of-a-kind local event that is part of the national celebration. The night will be topped off with a fireworks display as America turns 250!
Volunteers who help host the event’s booths and activities can expect to be at their stations from about 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., when the booths and games will start to wrap up in anticipation of the fireworks. Volunteers will already be in great viewing locations to watch the celebratory display in the sky.
The America 250 Roswell celebration is an ambitious effort being organized by a large committee of people representing many aspects of the community. The project is being sponsored by numerous local businesses and organizations, including the City of Roswell. This celebration is designed to honor America’s history while highlighting Roswell’s unique story, civic pride, and strong sense of community. Educational programs, patriotic events, historical highlights, and numerous other family-friendly activities are being held throughout the year, with the Great American Block Party serving as the showcase event.
