Today’s companion is my beautifully crafted and well-loved Radice Rind (G) (T/B). There’s just something special about a Radice. The craftsmanship, smoking qualities, and unmistakable Italian character make them a favorite among collectors and smokers alike.

In the bowl today is Stanwell Melange, a blend that has earned a permanent place in the BGPC rotation. If you’re a fan of quality aromatics that don’t overwhelm the to***co itself, Melange deserves a look. Three briars. Three shapes. One legendary series.

Today’s lineup features three of my Ben Wade (Preben Holm) Danish Hand Model 100s, all made in Denmark. Just look at the consistency - deep brown stain, rugged rustication, bold freehand shaping, and serious size. Every one of these briars is over 7 inches long with a large bowl ready for an extended smoking session.

These aren’t delicate little showpieces. They’re briar tanks.

One thing I’ve always appreciated about the Hand Model 100 is how consistent they are from pipe to pipe. Big, chunky, comfortable in hand, and excellent smokers. Best of all, they remain one of the better values in estate pipes. If you’re patient, good examples can still be found in the $100–$150 range. For the money, I don’t think they can be beat.

Now let’s talk to***co.

The fine folks at recently gave me the opportunity to try Peterson University Flake, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.

This Virginia and Burley flake offers natural to***co sweetness, earthy depth, and subtle dark fruit notes. The smoke is smooth, flavorful, and satisfying from start to finish. It’s the kind of blend that grows on you with every bowl, and I’m already planning to make sure it has a permanent place in my cellar.

BGPC Tip of the Day: Large-bowled pipes often perform best when packed a little looser than smaller pipes. Better airflow usually means a cooler smoke and fewer relights.
